Welcome to another edition of CALL THE SPOT ON THE CARD, where we present a list of wrestlers and you must choose what place on the WWE Roster Hierarchy they should be put in: 1) Main Event, 2) Upper Midcard, 3) Midcard, 4) Jobber, or 5) Released (or any alternative extra categories that may be added for bigger lists).
The rules are that each spot must be filled and only one person can be in each spot, so no ties can happen, nor can anyone opt out. No matter how difficult it might be, you have to pick.
This edition will focus on the superstars competing in the WWE Elimination Chamber 2021 cage matches.
WWE CHAMPIONSHIP RAW ELIMINATION CHAMBER MATCH
AJ Styles vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Randy Orton vs. Sheamus
6) RELEASED = Sheamus
This may seem like I'm dunking on Sheamus, but I'm not trying to. I really had issues with him at the start of his career and push, but I've grown to be more and more fond of him as time has gone on. However, I think he's accomplished everything he needs to accomplish (minus that Intercontinental Championship, and I really, really hope he wins that). For this list, if any of them were to throw in the towel, I think he would be the best option.
5) JOBBER = Jeff Hardy
The most sympathetic babyface who could put other people over and doesn't likely have another world title reign left in him, I guess. It's a hard call, as I like all of these guys.
4) MIDCARD = Kofi Kingston
I've always been a big fan of Kofi Kingston. In particular, I'm very, very happy he got his world title reign. But there are bigger fish to fry here and I can't realistically put him above anyone else.
3) UPPER MIDCARD = Drew McIntyre
Boy, that sucks to take a guy like Drew McIntyre and make him an upper midcard act again, rather than a true main event star, right? But when you look at the two people left, I just think he falls a little shorter on the hierarchy.
2) MAIN EVENT = AJ Styles
He's The Phenomenal One. The only reason he's not in the top spot is due to #1 having more overall accolades and a longer time in the company.
1) HALL OF FAME = Randy Orton
Duh.
SMACKDOWN ELIMINATION CHAMBER MATCH
Cesaro vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Kevin Owens vs. King Corbin vs. Jey Uso vs. Sami Zayn
6) RELEASED = Cesaro
This was tricky. I was debating between Cesaro and Sami Zayn for this spot. Both I feel could be greater assets in AEW than in WWE. However, given a choice, I think the one with more of a chance of changing the game for himself would be Cesaro.
That's not to underestimate Zayn, but I think he's the type who ultimately fits in better with WWE. It's strange, since you'd likely say the bigger guy would be who Vince McMahon goes for, but Zayn's got more verbal charisma and that's a huge difference maker.
With Cesaro gone and in a company that values more in-ring work, I think he'd go further.
5) JOBBER = Jey Uso
He's simply lower on the totem pole, but I'm so glad he was able to break out of his shell over these past months as a singles star. I'm a big fan of Jey Uso. By no means should he be a jobber. That's just the nature of the game with Call the Spot.
4) MIDCARD = Sami Zayn
He'd make a great jobber, but I think that's what makes him an even better midcarder. If he scores some wins here and there, it makes him a more effective loser who calls out for the conspiracy theories and such. He's on the smaller side, too, so that makes more sense for him to be lower than some others, though I'm sure people disagree with me on that, especially considering who I have left.
3) UPPER MIDCARD = King Corbin
I know. I know. You hate me putting Corbin this high because you think he should be the Released option. But for my money, Corbin's one of the best and most effective heels WWE has had in the past decade.
I genuinely want this guy to win a world title and I wish I could give him some tweaks and make him the Main Event spot. However, I like the two others on this list more.
2) MAIN EVENT = Kevin Owens
There's no justifiable reason why Kevin Owens isn't a multi-time world champion. He's far too good for WWE to have let go to waste as much as he has. Make him serious again and give him the belt.
1) HALL OF FAME = Daniel Bryan
Duh.
