WWE NXT TakeOver: WarGames 2021 Spoilers and Predictions |
Men's WarGames Match: Bron Breakker, Carmelo Hayes, Grayson Waller and Tony D'Angelo vs. Tommaso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano, Pete Dunne and LA Knight
This is kind of random, isn't it? You can't even argue that it's old school against new school since LA Knight is a newer guy. Breakker's a babyface as far as I'm aware, so it's not fully heel/babyface dynamics, either, unless they're turning Breakker heel. Also, Knight, Dunne, Waller and D'Angelo have been all over the place with that idea anyway. You also can't say it's young against old since Dunne's on the younger side.
This is far, far cry from previous editions where you had The Undisputed ERA and such. Those made sense. This is WarGames just for the sake of being the end of the year. It's exactly the same problem as when Hell in a Cell comes around and WWE just does one of those matches.
My guess is Breakker scores the win for his team.
PREDICTION: Team Breakker wins.
Women's WarGames Match: Toxic Attraction (Mandy Rose, Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne) and Dakota Kai vs. Raquel Gonzalez, Cora Jade, Io Shirai and Kay Lee Ray
I like WarGames, but I'm not a fan of these whole randomly forced teams thrown together just before the event. While Toxic Attraction is a legitimate unit and adding Dakota Kai makes sense, the four babyfaces are essentially just "their opponents" in many ways. I'm also not fond of how many people have been switching at random between heel and face lately in NXT due to WWE just not having any idea what it wants to do anymore. Kay Lee Ray's new character direction isn't atrocious or anything, but it's still part of a bigger mess.
This lacks the umph that other years have had. However, I do still think I'll enjoy it. I'm a fan of most of these Superstars, while the others have a chance to surprise and impress me.
PREDICTION: Team Babyface wins.
Hair vs Hair Match: Cameron Grimes vs. Duke Hudson
There had been some discussion that Grimes would be getting his head shaved a few weeks back. My guess is this is the whole reason for it, rather than that plans changed and Hudson's getting the trim.
By no means did I think the poker guy would lead into a hair match, but hey, whatever, right? I like these two, so I'm at least invested enough to see it through.
PREDICTION: Duke Hudson wins.

NXT Tag Team Championship Match: Imperium (c) vs. Kyle O'Reilly and Von Wagner
I fully expected this to become a Triple Threat match where both Kyle O'Reilly and Von Wagner as well as Legado del Fantasma would fight for the titles, rather than just one of those teams. Leaving it to just O'Reilly and Wagner even more so solidifies my original prediction that no matter what, the belts wouldn't change hands. I especially don't think this makeshift duo will dethrone Imperium. If so, it's just another random thing that is happening in the ever-changing NXT 2.0 scenario. Von Wagner is potentially going up to the main roster with an Adam Pearce stable, so why give him a title?
PREDICTION: Imperium wins.
NXT Cruiserweight Championship Match: Roderick Strong (c) vs. Joe Gacy
Gacy is 245 pounds. Why is this even happening? Both are heels, too. Why is EVERYTHING in WWE so chaotic, messy and illogical lately? It seems like it's on purpose.
PREDICTION: Roderick Strong wins.
