WWE WrestleMania Backlash 2021 Results |
Coverage will start as soon as the pre-show begins. Stay tuned!
United States Championship Match: Sheamus (c) vs. Ricochet
RESULT: Sheamus retained by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Good to see Ricochet getting a title shot. It's a shame it wasn't with any momentum on his side whatsoever and that he came up short here. I was hoping for Keith Lee to be the surprise challenger. Per usual, I'm also wishing WWE would go back to having a full card set up in advance on the go-home episodes of Raw and SmackDown, rather than waiting for the day of and announcing things on Twitter to hold off either due to a lack of preparation and/or this incessant need to "save something for social media". But as far as this match within a bubble, I enjoyed this. Thumbs up.
Raw Women's Championship Triple Threat Match: Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Asuka vs. Charlotte Flair
RESULT: Rhea Ripley retained by pinfall over Asuka.
THOUGHTS: Very good match with the best outcome (as sad as it is to admit, since I hate it when Asuka loses). The right calls were made and the action was great from start to finish.
After being attacked backstage earlier, Dominik Mysterio isn't able to compete. It seems Rey Mysterio is going to have a new replacement partner, instead, or if Rey will go in alone, or if Dominik will come out mid-match.
SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match: Dirty Dawgs (Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode) (c) vs. Dominik Mysterio and Rey Mysterio
RESULT: Dominik and Rey Mysterio won the titles by pinfall!
THOUGHTS: Not the most amazing match in the world, but it was booked rather well. It's a shame this didn't take place at WrestleMania in front of a crowd. I'm glad they won the titles.
John Morrison opened the locker room for the lumberjacks and it was filled with zombies. The Miz doesn't believe his story.
Jimmy Uso wished Roman Reigns good luck, because he's going to need it, while telling Jey he shouldn't be in Roman's locker room carrying his bags.
Lumberjack Match: Damian Priest vs. The Miz
RESULT: Damian Priest won by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Having zombies as lumberjacks was...different. I don't hate it as much as everyone else, but I can see why a lot of people are looking at this as just stupid and embarrassing.
Backstage, Jimmy tells Jey the sign on the locker room should say "Roman Reigns and his bitch."
SmackDown Women's Championship Match: Bianca Belair (c) vs. Bayley
RESULT: Bianca Belair retained by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Not as good as I was expecting, to be honest. It wasn't bad, but I've forgotten most of it by the time it was over and it just felt meh and generic. This is In Your House level.
WWE Championship Triple Threat Match: Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Braun Strowman vs. Drew McIntyre
RESULT: Bobby Lashley retained by pinfall over Strowman.
THOUGHTS: Meh. The only real highlight of the match that stood out to me was the spot with McIntyre throwing Lashley through the LED stage, which was timed perfectly. Other than that, it was just a generic match that wasn't bad, nor was it special.
Universal Championship Match: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Cesaro
RESULT: Roman Reigns retained by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Good match that was booked well, especially for Cesaro in a loss.
After the match, Jey Uso and then, Seth Rollins, both attacked Cesaro and beat him down even more.
