Welcome to another edition of WOMEN'S WRESTLING WEEKLY—a rundown of the events which have transpired in the world of women's professional wrestling over the past several days not just with the Superstars on WWE programming, but with Impact Wrestling's Knockouts, ROH's Women of Honor, and even a glimpse at the women on the independent circuit.
WWE Monday Night Raw
Charlotte Flair vs Lacey Evans
Charlotte Flair is already a legend within WWE, therefore she should not be engaging in such poor storylines. This match was all about Ric Flair causing a distraction to allow Lacey Evans to pick up a pinfall victory. Honestly, this was bad. Can we please end this storyline now?
Winner: Lacey Evans
Rating: 1.5/5
Dana Brooke & Mandy Rose vs Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler
Shayna Baszler imposed herself on this match, ensuring she was the very reason for her team winning. Dana Brooke and Mandy Rose actually worked hard, but this was all about Baszler.
A Kirifuda Clutch was enough to secure the submission victory, providing The Queen of Spades with some momentum as the Royal Rumble approaches.
Winner: Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler
Rating: 2/5
Impact Wrestling
Taya Valkyrie vs Kimber Lee
This was a solid, if not unspectacular bout to start the show. Both Taya Valkyrie and Kimber Lee looked good, with Lee taking advantage of a distraction from Rosemary to secure a rather surprising pinfall victory.
Winner: Kimber Lee
Rating: 2.5/5
Tenille Dashwood vs Rosemary
The middling action of this match was secondary to the return of Decay. Mediocre action, but Rosemary at least has some real direction now.
Winner: Rosemary
Rating: 2/5
AEW Dark
Tay Conti vs Marti Daniels
Tay Conti dominated this encounter, which is only fitting considering her challenge to Serena Deeb for the NWA Women's Championship on Dynamite. This was fast, yet impactful.
Winner: Tay Conti
Rating: 2/5
Red Velvet vs Leva Bates
Red Velvet and Leva Bates are solid stars in AEW, and they worked hard here to put on an interesting bout. Both women had periods of control, but Velvet was able to secure the pinfall victory.
Winner: Red Velvet
Rating: 2.5/5
Alex Gracia vs Anna Jay
Anna Jay simply came out and dominated in this match. She has really embraced being a part of Dark Order, and she continued to show clear improvement here.
Winner: Anna Jay
Rating: 2.5/5
Serena Deeb vs Tesha Price
Serena Deeb understandably dominated this match, mirroring the momentum that Tay Conti achieved earlier on in the show. Deeb continues to exude absolute star power.
Winner: Serena Deeb
Rating: 2/5
AEW Wednesday Night Dynamite
Serena Deeb vs Tay Conti
This was a fantastic match, with both Serena Deeb and Tay Conti elevating the standing of the NWA Women's Championship. Both women had their working boots on, competing in arguably the best match of the night.
Conti used her vast array of kicks and strikes to wear Deeb down, but she was ultimately unable to capitalise as she fell prey to a Detox. Deeb retained the title by pinfall, and surely it is now only a matter of time before she challenges for the AEW Women's Championship.
Winner: Serena Deeb
Rating: 3.5/5
WWE NXT
Shotzi Blackheart vs Candice LeRae
Candice LeRae has a swagger about her now that makes her both unlikeable, but absolutely unmissable. She and Shotzi Blackheart opened up NXT this week with yet another solid match between the pair, with LeRae coming out on top with a Top Rope Swinging Neckbreaker. Overall, this was a solid and enjoyable way to start the show.
Winner: Candice LeRae
Rating: 3/5
Xia Li vs Valentina Feroz
Another week, and another swift Xia Li victory. I like this new direction as it actually gives her some character and legitimacy to her wrestling.
Winner: Xia Li
Rating: 2/5
WWE NXT UK
There were no women's matches this week.
WWE Friday Night SmackDown
Liv Morgan vs Natalya
Billie Kay came out with The Riott Squad this week, sporting a new punk look. That didn't bode well for Liv Morgan, however, who lost to a mediocre performance from Natalya.
Taking advantage of some inadvertent distraction by Kay, Natalya rolled up Morgan for the pinfall victory. Very uninspired.
Winner: Natalya
Rating: 1.5/5
Impact Wrestling: Hard to Kill 2021
Kiera Hogan & Tasha Steelz vs Havok & Nevaeh
The winners of this encounter would become the new Knockout's Tag Team Champions. Kiera Hogan and Tasha Steelz debuted the team name 'Fire and Flava' which is honestly bad, but at least their performance was much better.
Once again, the team of Havok and Nevaeh performed well, but they could not overcome Fire and Flava. A Fisherman's Buster on Havok by Hogan was enough, ending a rather entertaining tournament.
Winner: Kiera Hogan & Tasha Steelz
Rating: 2.5/5
Deonna Purrazzo vs Taya Valkyrie
Deonna Purrazzo put her Knockout's Championship on the line against Taya Valkyrie, with the former Champion well and truly taking the fight to her.
Purrazzo displayed the submission techniques that have almost defined her reign, locking in a Double Armbar on Valkyrie for the submission victory. Purrazzo looked strong, however Valkyrie carried herself well.
Winner: Deonna Purrazzo
Rating: 3/5
MATCH OF THE WEEK:
Serena Deeb vs Tay Conti
This was a simply fantastic match, with both women competing at the top of their game.
WOMAN OF THE WEEK:
Serena Deeb
Serena Deeb is simply faultless at the moment, and once again she displayed just how talented she is.
