AEW Full Gear 2021 Spoilers

AEW World Championship Match: Kenny Omega (c) vs. Hangman Adam Page

I had thought this would happen at All Out, but it was put on hold. Now that they've come back around to it, I really want them to pull the trigger on Page winning the title. It's a full-circle story that makes so much sense. If Page fails, there are certainly other people who could beat Omega, but it would just be a bummer in the long run. In my mind, Page winning is the best outcome and MJF should be the one to dethrone him at some point in 2022 (maybe even as soon as Double or Nothing, but definitely by the time All Out comes around at the very latest, unless Page's popularity just continues to skyrocket and it would make no sense to take the belt off him.) I'll go so far as to say that I'd be cool with Page kicking out of the One-Winged Angel in the process of winning this match, too.

PREDICTION: Adam Page wins the title.

AEW World Championship Eliminator Tournament Final: Bryan Danielson vs. Miro

With Jon Moxley taking time off to enter rehab for alcohol addiction, Miro was the absolute best replacement opponent to face Bryan Danielson. Much of my thoughts remain the same beyond that point. The winner is pretty much up to the decision of Page/Omega in the title match. If Omega somehow retains, I think Danielson wins this and he's the one who takes the belt from Omega. However, if Page captures the championship, I can definitely see Miro winning the tournament and being the first in line for a shot against Hangman.

PREDICTION: Miro wins.

AEW Women's World Championship Match: Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. (c) vs. Tay Conti

I've sang the praises of how much better Tay Conti is in AEW than when she was in NXT. Leaps and bounds. But she's not winning the title here. She's ultimately just another opponent for Baker to check off.

That's perfectly fine, mind you. Someone can't have a title reign if they don't beat people. This is how it should go. Conti should put up a fight, but Baker will get the best of her in the long run.

PREDICTION: Britt Baker retains the title.

Minneapolis Street Fight: The Inner Circle vs. American Top Team and Men of the Year

This is a means to get a lot of people on the card and bring in some outsiders for more media coverage and attention. While I think it makes sense to do this on a television episode for ratings rather than necessarily a pay-per-view, I can argue the buys they could get might justify it being at Full Gear, too. All in all, I'm for it. The Inner Circle should absolutely win, too.

PREDICTION: The Inner Circle is victorious.

AEW World Tag Team Championship Match: The Lucha Bros (c) vs. FTR

This is a scenario where there's more to just "won't the match be good?" than any kind of solid enough storyline or feud to sink your teeth into. Yes, the match will be good, if not great, so I'm looking forward to checking it out. I don't know much more to talk about than that, though. Likely, it'll be a solid 15-20 minutes of in-ring action and the belts will stay around Fenix and Penta.

PREDICTION: The Lucha Brothers will retain the titles.

MJF vs. Darby Allin

Filler feud, but I like both guys for what they bring to the table. To me, this is more of a "special episode of Dynamite or Rampage" kind of feel than something that should take up a spot at Full Gear, but since both are in the upper-midcard / heading toward potential title shots range, sure, why not?

As I expect Page to win the title and I want MJF to be the next champion after that, I'm 100% rooting for Maxwell Jacob Friedman to be victorious.

PREDICTION: MJF wins.

Falls Count Anywhere Match: Superkliq (Adam Cole and The Young Bucks) vs. Christian and Jurassic Express (Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy)

We've seen these teams face each other, but Falls Count Anywhere spices things up. I'm down to see it, even if it's ultimately just doing the same thing again and stretching it out. Thankfully, while AEW does that once in a while, it doesn't do it anywhere near as badly as WWE.

PREDICTION: Superkliq wins.

CM Punk vs. Eddie Kingston

I have no real context for this, as I've been MIA (wedding/moving/honeymoon), so I haven't actively watched the setup. However, generally speaking, CM Punk shouldn't lose to Eddie Kingston. I see no reason why that would happen. More so, I imagine this is Punk saying he'd like to work with Kingston because he finds him an interesting performer, so it's just a matter of crossing that name off the list.

PREDICTION: CM Punk wins.

+ more matches yet to be announced

PREDICTED / RUMORED MATCHES (as of 11/4/2021)

Based on an image of Tony Khan holding up a notebook with notes about Full Gear, along with how the card appears to be shaping up, these are some things I'd imagine are on the books:

  • CM Punk vs. Wardlow (Punk wins)
  • Jade Cargill vs. Thunder Rosa (in what will apparently be a short match) as part of the TBS Championship Tournament (Cargill wins)
  • Christian Cage vs. Adam Cole (Cole wins)
  • Cody and PAC vs. Malakai Black and Andrade El Idolo in a tag team match (Andrade and Black win)

This page will be altered on a regular basis to reflect changes to the show including any new matches added to the lineup, adjustments to the card, revised predictions and any other information about this event. Stay tuned for the latest updates!
