WWE Monday Night Raw
Asuka vs Shayna Baszler
Asuka vs Shayna Baszler was a dream match this time last year. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case, such is the poor manner in which Baszler has been booked as a singles star.
This match was a reminder, however, that she can perform well, even when she is not giving 110%. Both women wrestled in a strong and hard hitting manner, with Asuka able to capitalise on a distraction from Lana to roll up Baszler for the pinfall victory.
Not amazing, but it at least left me wanting more.
Winner: Asuka
Rating: 2.5/5
WWE SmackDown
The Riott Squad vs Billie Kay & Natalya
This was not interesting to watch at all. The Riott Squad looked good, but Billie Kay deserves so much better than being a punchline. Kay was double teamed, falling to a pinfall to lose the match for her team.
The narrative here was that Kay is struggling to gel with anyone, but in all honesty, it just feels like the writers do not care.
Winner: The Riott Squad
Rating: 1.5/5
Sasha Banks vs Carmella
Billed as a TLC match come early, this was all storyline and not much substance in the ring. Sasha Banks was punished with a disqualification for being too aggressive, but that was just pure bullshit.
Post match, Carmella decimated Banks, creating a reason for fans to finally feel sorry for the SmackDown Women's Champion. Carmella looked great here, but the match was subpar at best.
Winner: Carmella (via DQ)
Rating: 2/5
WWE NXT
Ember Moon vs Raquel Gonzalez
Raquel Gonzalez had the perfect opportunity to prove that NXT TakeOver: WarGames was no fluke, and she grabbed it with both hands to put in an impressive performance.
Ember Moon fell victim to Gonzalez, with a Powerbomb securing the victory. Gonzalez worked great as the Goliath figure, whilst Moon's David character worked so well in building Gonzalez up as a monster.
This deservedly main evented NXT this week, and I am so proud to see how hard Gonzalez is working.
Winner: Raquel Gonzalez
Rating: 3.5/5
WWE NXT UK
Isla Dawn vs Xia Brookside
Another week, another poor NXT UK women's match. I really want the talent to put on matches they are clearly capable of, but whether it is down to their reduced time or ring rust, it is just not happening.
Isla Dawn took advantage of a distraction to pin Xia Brookside, but the match as a whole felt very dull. Please women, start putting more energy into your moves!
Winner: Isla Dawn
Rating: 2/5
AEW Dynamite
Abadon vs Tesha Price
Abadon destroyed Tesha Price, which sent a amessage to Hikaru Shida that she has something to fear. As a squash match, this was perfectly entertaining.
Winner: Abadon
Rating: 2/5
Impact Wrestling
Deonna Purrazzo & Kimber Lee vs Taya Valkyrie & Rosemary
This was a preview for the Knockout’s Championship match at Final Resolution. With the extra eyes that were on the product due to Kenny Omega’s appearance, all four women put on an entertaining match, proving that new fans should return next week.
Rosemary won to create a sense of intrigue going into her upcoming title match, which was the right result, all things considered.
Winner: Taya Valkyrie & Rosemary
Rating: 2.5/5
Impact Wrestling: Final Resolution 2020
The Sea Stars vs Havok & Nevaeh
This match featured a serious lack of drama, with The Sea Stars never once looking likely to win. Havok and Nevaeh tried to make this an entertaining contest, but ultimately, they failed.
Havok and Nevaeh won with a Facebuster combination, but this just wasn’t good at all.
Winner: Havok & Nevaeh
Rating: 1.5/5
Deonna Purrazzo vs Rosemary
Deonna Purrazzo worked hard to get the best out of Rosemary, and although this match also struggled with a lack of drama, it was at least a fun little romp.
Purrazzo won with a Cosa Nostra, underlining her strength and stranglehold over the Knockout’s Championship.
Winner: Deonna Purrazzo
Rating: 2.5/5
