The WWE Championship has changed hands as Randy Orton defeated Drew McIntyre to win the title at Hell in a Cell 2020 on October 25, 2020.
My immediate reaction: So....Roman Reigns vs Randy Orton at Survivor Series? How does that work? Of course, WWE could just say "fuck our own rules" and have those titles on the line instead of the champion versus champion selling point, cutting its nose to spite its face. I think this is a mistake. Orton has nowhere near as many babyfaces to feud with over the next few months compared to McIntyre with the long list of heels. Don't get me wrong, I think Orton's been doing some great stuff this year, but I don't think he needs the championship to continue doing that, whereas McIntyre dropping the belt is going to SEVERELY diminish his value, as he did need it.
Since this happened, be sure to check out the updated full list of title changes for this year and the list of current champions and my predictions for who will take the belts away from them.
