Welcome to another edition of CALL THE SPOT ON THE CARD, where we present a list of wrestlers and you must choose what place on the WWE Roster Hierarchy they should be put in: 1) Main Event, 2) Upper Midcard, 3) Midcard, 4) Jobber, or 5) Released.
The rules are that each spot must be filled and only one person can be in each spot, so no ties can happen, nor can anyone opt out. No matter how difficult it might be, you have to pick.
Per usual for Survivor Series, this edition will actually feature multiple separate lists based on the teams from the different brands ranked among their teammates.
2020 WOMEN'S SURVIVOR SERIES ELIMINATION MATCH
TEAM RAW = Lacey Evans vs. Lana vs. Nia Jax vs. Peyton Royce vs. Shayna Baszler
TEAM SMACKDOWN = Bayley vs. Bianca Belair vs. Liv Morgan vs. Natalya vs. Ruby Riott
5) RELEASED = Nia Jax / Ruby Riott
Nia Jax has been rather unsafe and I've never been too fond of her
work, overall. If you're going to cut any of these, it has to be her.
Let's see what Ruby Riott can do elsewhere. She's not getting a title in WWE any time soon, it seems, but she could be a much bigger part of the AEW women's division. If not, swap her out with Liv Morgan and just release her for real without going somewhere else.
4) JOBBER = Lana / Liv Morgan
Lana's attractive and athletic, but can't really wrestle all too
well. That means she's good enough to toss around the ring and make
someone else look good, but not someone I'd go out of my way to push.
If you're not going to straight-up release Morgan and put Riott in the jobber spot here, then job out Morgan. She's a better jobber than Riott would be, anyway. Morgan's got value and everything, and I wouldn't want her to be a jobber, but she's lower ranked than the other three by default.
3) MIDCARD = Peyton Royce / Natalya
All things considered, Peyton Royce is solid. She's incredibly attractive, has a lot of energy and personality and can work well enough. I can't imagine putting her in the top spot at WrestleMania, but she should always have a spot on the roster.
Nattie's hit her peak, I think. Now, she can be the midcarder working with other talent to put them over.
2) UPPER MIDCARD = Lacey Evans / Bayley
Lacey Evans has a lot of potential she hasn't tapped into, for whatever reason. She's got what it takes to be a top talent if she could figure out the missing ingredients that makes it all click. She's among the more muscular women who you could believe wins any match, has the looks and has a babyface run in her with the military side of things that WWE just doesn't seem to understand how to facilitate.
Simply put, I like Belair better.
1) MAIN EVENT = Shayna Baszler / Bianca Belair
There's no debate Shayna is the best on the Raw side. She's not only the best as far as in-ring psychology, but wrestling talent, too. This was a very, very easy call.
Simply put, I like Belair better, like I said. Give her the belt. She's awesome. I've seen enough of Bayley's title reigns that went on for a long while. We can use a break from that to give Bianca the spot instead.
2020 MEN'S SURVIVOR SERIES ELIMINATION MATCH
TEAM RAW = AJ Styles vs. Braun Strowman vs. Keith Lee vs. Matt Riddle vs. Sheamus
TEAM SMACKDOWN = Jey Uso vs. Kevin Owens vs. King Corbin vs. Otis vs. Seth Rollins
5) RELEASED = Matt Riddle / Seth Rollins
This is a tough list. The only justification for releasing Riddle that I can think of is due to his backstage problems. No one else has those, so he has to go, by default.
You're thinking what? Seth Rollins? You're not releasing King Corbin? Nope. I think we've seen all that we can see from WWE's version of Seth Rollins. I don't want to release any of these five guys on SmackDown, of course, so I have to pick something on the more positive side. Let's see what Tyler Black can do in AEW, maybe. Bad justification, but meh, good enough for me.
4) JOBBER = Sheamus / Otis
Sheamus isn't a jobber by any means. However, he just ranks lower than the other guys for me. Sorry Sheamus!
Otis is a character that you can laugh at and still feel sympathy for and want to see win. He's a perfect jobber compared to the others on this list.
3) MIDCARD = Keith Lee / Jey Uso
For now, Keith Lee can pull off being a midcard champion who is still on his way upward, rather than going straight to the main event and then moving downward. Of course, we all know he should be a world champion within a year or so.
Jey Uso has proven himself to be a better singles star than most would have given him credit for. However, he's not higher up on this list compared to the others.
2) UPPER MIDCARD = Braun Strowman / King Corbin
The Monster Among Men is just way too big and valuable not to be at least an upper-midcarder. I'd go so far as to say he should be the main event option, with Styles moving downward to work with a wider variety of talent, but it's tough to downplay how great Styles is.
I maintain Corbin is one of the most underrated performers on the roster today. Give him the belt. Well, in this scenario, make him close enough to win it, but not necessarily the guy holding the belt.
1) MAIN EVENT = AJ Styles / Kevin Owens
The Phenomenal One is just too good not to rank #1.
You can argue that I should have swapped Owens and Rollins. That still would work. But given the two, I actually prefer Owens as a performer and I'd rather see him in a main event spot in WWE right now than Rollins.
WHO WOULD YOU PUT IN WHICH SPOTS?
