WWE Power Rankings Top 10 Superstars This Week: #311 - Who Got Their Payback?

Posted by Callum Wiggins Saturday, September 5, 2020
Welcome to another edition of POWER RANKINGS from Smark Out Moment! Each week, we will break down the current roster and examine who has gone up the WWE hierarchy and who has unfortunately taken a step down the ladder. Factoring in things such as wins and losses, suspensions, injuries, making a name for one's self, being humiliated, and more, who is at the top of the food chain and who needs to make up some ground next week?

Here is the key code for the rankings shorthand when referencing their position in relation to the previous week:

NR = Not included in last week's rankings at all
+ Green = the number of moves up in the rankings compared to last week
- Red = the number of moves down in the rankings compared to last week
Honorable Mentions = five superstars who just barely missed the cut

Power Ranking WWE wrestlers list roster

10. Keith Lee [NR]

After a rocky start on the main roster, Keith Lee scored a decisive win over Randy Orton at Payback to cement his spot among Raw's top stars. Lee then defeated Dolph Ziggler on Monday, before falling short in a Triple Threat match later in the night.

9. Randy Orton [NR]

Speaking of that Triple Threat match, it was Randy Orton that outlasted Keith Lee and Seth Rollins to earn a rematch for the WWE Championship. After falling to Lee at Payback, The Viper fought back on Raw by beating both Kevin Owens and then winning the night's main event for another shot at Drew McIntyre.

8. Breezango [+2]

Fresh off of winning the NXT Tag Team Championships, Breezango supported Isaiah Scott in a 6-man Street Fight to defeat Legata del Fantasma on Super Tuesday.

7. Bray Wyatt [-3]

Bray Wyatt's reign as Universal Champion ends after just a week, as after a fierce battle with Braun Strowman at Payback, Roman Reigns picked up the scraps to capture the championship from The Fiend.

6. Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax [NR]

While far from the best of friends, Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax proved a more than capable team at Payback, beating The Golden Role Models for the Women's Tag Team Championships. They then successfully defended them in a rematch on SmackDown.

5. Jeff Hardy [-2]

Jeff Hardy now finds himself in a battle to determine the 'true' Intercontinental Champion following Sami Zayn's return, with AJ Styles still in the mix as well. But, Hardy wasn't involved in a match this week, meaning he tumbles down the Power Rankings.

4. Roman Reigns [NR]

For the first time since 2018, Roman Reigns rules all as the Universal Champion. With Paul Heyman in his corner, The Big Dog emerged late to defeat Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman at Payback to capture the championship.

3. Drew McIntyre [-1]

After last week's heinous attack by Randy Orton, Drew McIntyre was nowhere to be seen on Raw, with Orton now lying in wait as the next contender for the WWE Championship.

2. The Hurt Business [+3]

The Hurt Business rise up the rankings on the strength of Bobby Lashley's victory at Payback, as The Almighty defeated Apollo Crews for the United States Championship. However, this celebration was slightly tempered by a 6-man loss to Cedric Alexander & The Viking Raiders on Raw.

1. Asuka [No Change]

Asuka remains on top as she awaits the next challenger to emerge for her Raw Women's Championship, who will likely be one of Mickie James or Natalya.

HONORABLE MENTIONS

Finn Balor - Finn Balor was seconds away from being crowned NXT Champion on Tuesday in the 4-Way Iron Man Match, but saw the title slip away in the final moments thanks to Adam Cole.

Adam Cole - By sneaking a final pinfall of the dying moments of Tuesday's main event, Adam Cole will now battle Finn Balor next week one-on-one to determine the next NXT Champion.

The Riott Squad - Two big victories this week for The Riott Squad saw them force The IIconics to disband and earned an opportunity at the Women's Tag Team titles.

Isaiah Scott - In Tuesdays 6-Man Street Fight, Isaiah Scott pinned Santos Escobar to claim a win over the Cruiserweight Champion.

The Usos - In an unexpected turn of events on SmackDown, Jey Uso won a Fatal 4-Way against Matt Riddle, Sheamus and King Corbin to become the Number One Contender for Roman Reigns' Universal Championship.
