WWE NXT TakeOver 31 Spoilers and Predictions

NXT Championship Match: Finn Balor (c) vs. Kyle O'Reilly

Does Kyle O'Reilly have much of a chance of winning? Not really. But hey, this will undoubtedly be a rock solid match, and at least it's something different. If you're not going to go grandiose and awesome spectacle, go different to change things up. I like the idea of O'Reilly getting a push.

PREDICTION: Finn Balor retains the title.

NXT North American Championship Match: Damian Priest (c) vs. Johnny Gargano

Johnny Gargano said he wants to win the title, so...there you go. That's your build. That's pretty lame, but at least this should be a decent match, as Priest has been getting better and better, while Gargano's the anchor of the brand. I think the winner of this match at least slightly depends on whether or not Candice LeRae beats Io Shirai. I can see a scenario where both the Garganos walk away with titles.

PREDICTION: Damian Priest retains the title.

NXT Women's Championship Match: Io Shirai (c) vs. Candice LeRae

There's certainly a good chance Candice wins the title, particularly if Johnny can win the North American title. I think Candice actually has a stronger shot at winning the title than Gargano, but I'm still iffy about it. I'll probably go back and forth about my prediction over and over, but for now, I'll stick with Io retaining just because I don't think Priest drops his belt and this might hinge on that.

PREDICTION: Io Shirai retains the title.

Kushida vs. Velveteen Dream

Velveteen Dream won't let this thing with Kushida go, so they're having another match to "settle the score" so to speak. VD is the bigger star, so it would make sense for him to win. However, the babyface should walk out of a feud like this with something, and Kushida's been continually shafted. For now, until I get an inclination otherwise, I'll say Kushida gets the win and this pushes him toward a potential cruiserweight title situation once Isaiah "Swerve" Scott is no longer the top focus for Santos Escobar.

PREDICTION: Kushida wins.

NXT Tag Team Championship Match: Breezango (c) vs. The Undisputed ERA or The Brit-Am Brawlers

Tyler Breeze and Fandango will fight either Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan or Roderick Strong and Bobby Fish. TBA. We'll discuss this later.

PREDICTION: Breezango retains the titles.

NXT Cruiserweight Championship Match: Santos Escobar (c) vs. Isaiah "Swerve" Scott

While Scott has every right to get another shot, due to Escobar using a loaded mask in their last title match, I think we can all agree the true push for this is WWE's tendency to just copy and paste things as many times as possible. It's easier to keep this feud going than to set up a new challenger. As such, I don't expect Scott to win the title. He's more than capable of being champion, but Escobar is the more interesting character and has already beaten Scott multiple times. I think this is just a repeat of what we've seen before with a slightly different variation of the same "Escobar wins" ending. Add some shenanigans to the finish and that's it. At least it should be a decent enough match.

PREDICTION: Santos Escobar retain the title.
