It was announced on September 4, 2020 that Authors of Pain (Akam and Rezar) were released from World Wrestling Entertainment. No information was given as to why. It seems this might just be a standard situation of contracts not being renewed, but perhaps there's more to the story.
My reaction: This is not at all a good year for WWE or its superstars, is it? How can you take a team like AOP and do so little with them on the main roster? They were solid in the ring and looked like monsters. All WWE had to do was not book them in angles with Drake Maverick peeing on a robe and such. Injuries got in the way of some of their success, sure, but it still feels like this is WWE's failure, not Akam and Rezar to blame.
