The WWE United States Championship has changed hands as Bobby Lashley defeated Apollo Crews to win the title at WWE Payback on August 30, 2020.
My immediate reaction: I think this was the right call. I just don't think it should have been dragged out an extra week for Payback as this event never should have taken place to begin with and Lashley should have won the title at SummerSlam. But hey, at least they did it, right? Crews had a solid enough reign and really turned his career around. Now, it's Lashley's time to reach a point where someone else can beat him and be made. I'm thinking Keith Lee, if they don't move him straight into the world title hunt (depending on what happens with Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton). My guess is Lee beats Lashley before Survivor Series so he can fight whoever the IC and North American champions are.
Since this happened, be sure to check out the updated full list of title changes for this year and the list of current champions and my predictions for who will take the belts away from them.
