Welcome to another edition of Cheap Pop and Cheap Heat from Smark Out Moment! Each week, we break down the world of professional wrestling and examine two of the polar opposite ends of the spectrum: one thing that was by far the worst thing (Cheap Heat) and the best thing (Cheap Pop) to happen over the past 7 days in sports entertainment. So, what went down this week that we loved and hated about the business?
CHEAP POP OF THE WEEK:
A LONG AWAITED VICTORY
Having Wade Barrett's dulcet Mancunian tones on commentary was already more than enough to make this week's NXT stand out, but, that it happened on the same episode that Breezango won the NXT tag titles? Jesus, save something for next week fellas!
I was so happy to see Fandango and Tyler Breeze finally taste gold within the WWE system, and it is quite shocking that it is the first for both. The Fashion Files sketches were some of the hottest things on SmackDown for the longest time, and that WWE never pulled the trigger and made them champions is madness.
Beyond the skits, the pair were just as popular for their ring work, when they actually got used, and I am glad that they got to continue their tandem, and find success, over in the yellow brand.
CHEAP HEAT OF THE WEEK:
ARM NOT SURE I LIKE THIS
You know what WWE need to stop strong arming into their product? Arm wrestling matches! Why do they think anyone cares? When Randy Orton purposefully starts doing endless headlocks, it is because he knows that the glacier pace of it all winds people up.
Well, the effect of an arm wrestling match is not light years away from that. Regardless, WWE decided that this was the natural progression for Apollo Crews long running feud with The Hurt Business. Never mind that he has faced off against them all in varying combinations for nearly two months now. Thankfully, we did get an appearance from Mark Henry out of it, but even that is not enough to justify the tedium of these bouts.
Nobody wants these!
So there you have it, my two choices for the week. What do YOU think are the Cheap Pop and Cheap Heat this week in professional wrestling? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
