Welcome to another edition of Cheap Pop and Cheap Heat from Smark Out Moment! Each week, we break down the world of professional wrestling and examine two of the polar opposite ends of the spectrum: one thing that was by far the worst thing (Cheap Heat) and the best thing (Cheap Pop) to happen over the past 7 days in sports entertainment. So, what went down this week that we loved and hated about the business?
CHEAP POP OF THE WEEK:
THUNDERING ON
The ThunderDome is an exciting concept, and a nice change from the Performance Centre for sure. The slightly cozier Orlando arena is perfect for how NXT presents itself, and has been a good temporary home for the blue and red brands, but it could not go on having all three there every week. Obviously, easy said than done with the global pandemic, but this is a clever way of getting around it.
Admittedly, it is not without faults, for the atmosphere was not as electric as I would have hoped, but this can hopefully be remedied by either ramping up the monitor sounds, or, getting fans that are not going to sit on their hands while watching. Though, the latter is a bit harder for WWE to predict.
Regardless, the new arena is a good idea, and a very welcome change.
CHEAP HEAT OF THE WEEK:
A DISREPCTFUL DECISION
Raw is a three-hour show. Admittedly, they packed a lot in this week, but, in that time, are you really telling me that there was nowhere at all for the Samoa Joe and Seth Rollins argument to take place other than the tail end of the Mickie James return match?
There was absolutely no chance it could have at least taken place during the middle of it? Or, if you really had no other choice but to have Mickie James take a count out loss, that we could have at least have had the camera focusing on her? This was just disrespectful. Mickie is a very popular and respected veteran, and I am so pleased that she chose to come back to WWE, but I am not sure that they deserves her sometimes.
So there you have it, my two choices for the week. What do YOU think are the Cheap Pop and Cheap Heat this week in professional wrestling? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
