CHEAP POP OF THE WEEK:
GOING OUT WITH FLAIR
Nobody is scratching their heads over how WWE pulled off a 70-year old Ric Flair getting punted in the head by Randy Orton. But, equally, nobody is denying its effectiveness or the emotional impact that goes with it.
Few things will ever come close to the Sorry, I Love You moment, but hearing Ric Flair say that he no longer considers himself Ric Flair was a moment in itself, and made it all the more heart wrenching that Orton still turned on him.
There are rumors that suggest this was the last moment of Ric Flair on WWE television ever, which, if true, what a way to have him go out.
Though, having said that, he will probably turn up at SummerSlam and help Randy Orton win the title...
CHEAP HEAT OF THE WEEK:
A FEEBLE FACTION
Well, we are a few weeks into the emergence of wrestling's latest faction, Retribution, and I have little hope of this becoming more than a footnote in wrestling history. The Nexus took just one segment to put the entire roster on notice, and they did it without a chainsaw. Honestly, it is not hard to see why this has not had the impact WWE hoped.
They dress like less imposing versions of Akira Tozawa's ninjas, their shtick is pointless petty vandalism, and only now have some of the midcard decided to give them a second thought. Compare that to Nexus, who even had John Cena concerned.
WWE clearly thinks that this is the New Nexus—and I do not just mean CM Punk's iteration of the group—but I, and the majority of fans, beg to differ.
So there you have it, my two choices for the week. What do YOU think are the Cheap Pop and Cheap Heat this week in professional wrestling? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
