The AEW TNT Championship has changed hands as Brodie Lee defeated Cody to win the title on the August 22, 2020 edition of Dynamite.
My immediate reaction: To be honest, I haven't seen it yet. This aired the same night as NXT TakeOver 30, which took much bigger priority. However, the leaked spoilers that turned out to be partially true and partially false had put it out there that Lee was going to win the TNT title (just in a different way than what apparently transpired), so I already came to terms with the concept a few days ago. When I heard about that, I thought that it was strange Cody wasn't going into All Out as the champion and that Brodie Lee would be the next to hold the belt, rather than someone else. I think it's a mistake. I would have rather had Cody hold that belt for a long, long while and to put over a younger guy like Sammy Guevara, Darby Allin, Ricky Starks, etc who would get more out of beating him, rather than just giving another midcard belt to Luke Harper, essentially.
Since this happened, be sure to check out the updated full list of title changes for this year and the list of current champions and my predictions for who will take the belts away from them.
