CHEAP POP OF THE WEEK:
LATER SLATER
Heath Slater made his return to Raw to call out the actions of his former stable mate, Drew McIntyre, and it served as both an excellent bookend to his WWE career, and a sore memento over how good Slater is when given half a chance.
With a far more muscular physique and serious cadence to his voice, Slater reminded McIntyre how he had been there for him during McIntyre's own release in 2014, and how he had cried when Drew won the WWE championship at WrestleMania. But where was Drew when the tables were turned last April?
Slater went on to say that the I got kids line was not a gimmick, but real life for him and his two daughters, and that Drew had promised him a match prior to his release.
Said match was, sadly, all of thirty seconds, but everything that came before and after is what made this segment. Heath being beaten down by Ziggler but then saved by McIntyre made for a touching moment, and you could tell that the emotion was all too real for them when they embraced. Lastly, having one last 3MB hand signal capped it off perfectly.
While this was a one-off to conclude his WWE career, with that improved physique and bad-ass attitude, maybe, just maybe, he can follow in the footsteps of his band mates, and use this to come back better than ever.
I, for one, certainly hope so.
CHEAP HEAT OF THE WEEK:
EYE DON'T BELIEVE IT
EYE DON'T BELIEVE IT
We are honest to God getting Rey Mysterio against Seth Rollins in an Eye for an Eye match.
Wait, what?
The stipulation for their Extreme Rules match is, seemingly, no different to a hair vs hair or mask vs mask match, in that the loser must forfeit said item.
Again, what?
Obviously, this angle will lean heavily on the subtitled horror show aspect, and will possibly be done via a crazy cinematic match with some gory prosthetic, but, then what? If no eye is pulled out, even in the most fictional sense, it will be a pointless stipulation to have had, or, if one is, again, in the fictional sense, then where does WWE go from there? Ignore it like the time Rey Mysterio was thrown off the top of a building? Or, have the loser wear an eye patch or mask for the duration of their career? Clearly, Ray is the better candidate to do such a thing, but it still seems kind of extreme, even for a wrestling PPV with that very word within the title.
Too late to just have a Dominick on a pole match?
