CHEAP POP OF THE WEEK:
ROLLING BACK AROUND
Is the American Badass Undertaker back? His look has got progressively less like, well, an Undertaker, and more like the man that rocked up on a Harley and dominated the WWE Hardcore title division back in the day.
In addition, while he has retained a few key words of The Phenom, I would say that his promo style has also undergone a metamorphosis too. Faster, more aggressive, and with a stronger emphasis on his real accent. I know that it had its detractors, but I enjoyed the change of character in the early 2000s.
It may even be a better fit for his look and fighting style at this point. A brawling A bearded hells angel in his 50s? Nothing weird about that. Plus, this WrestleMania is clearly going to be very different anyway, so why not embrace mixing things up a bit as much as possible.
Get WWE's production truck to dust off the Limp Biskit CD and let us go all the way with it.
CHEAP HEAT OF THE WEEK:
IS IT REALLY WRESTLEMANIA?
IS IT REALLY WRESTLEMANIA?
As I write this we are hours away from WrestleMania 36. Ordinarily, I would be very excited about this, and would feel the anticipation weeks ahead of time. In fact, sometimes the feeling would be akin to what I felt on Christmas Eve as a child.
This year? Not so much. At first, I thought that it was a good way to make the best of a bad situation, and better than cancelling, but a month of empty arena matches really takes away the wind out of the (full) sail. Yes, we have had some awesome promos, but it is hard to deny that it has outstayed its welcome. Upon reflection, I wish that they were not going ahead.
Without the crowd and pomp this is WrestleMania in name only. In addition, without meaning to sound like a member of Right To Censor, is this responsible? A half-baked WrestleMania is not more important than someone's life.
Thankfully, WWE gave the option for wrestlers to opt out should they wish, but it will be a minor miracle should nobody fall sick as a result of the production of this.
It is not WWE's fault, but it sucks all the same.
