WWE Monday Night Raw
Natalya & Liv Morgan vs The Kabuki Warriors
The Kabuki Warriors were in dire need of restoring their credibility, which meant a match against Liv Morgan and Natalya was the perfect opportunity to remind the WWE universe of their talent.
Morgan and Natalya tried their very best, but they were unable to convert their dominance into a victory. Natalya appeared to have the match won, but Asuka was able to deliver a solid Head Kick to Natalya for the pinfall victory.
This match was good as it underlined the dominance of The Kabuki Warriors, whilst also showing how there is strength in depth in the women’s division. Morgan looked strong, whilst Natalya looked better than she has for a while.
Winner: The Kabuki Warriors
Rating: 2.5/5
WWE SmackDown
Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross vs Bayley & Sasha Banks
This match was a surreal experience, as SmackDown was played out in front of no fans due to the Coronavirus outbreak. This was evident in the lethargic performance of all 4 women, with Asuka’s involvement the only thing of note.
Asuka took out Alexa Bliss on the outside, with The Empress of Tomorrow dancing as she revelled in her misdemeanour. This distraction allowed Sasha Banks to lock in a Banks Statement on Nikki Cross, with Cross left with no other option but to tap out.
This match was poor, and only served to highlight a potential match at WrestleMania 36 for the Women’s Tag Team Championship.
Winner: Bayley & Sasha Banks
Rating: 2/5
WWE NXT UK
Dani Luna vs Amale
Unfortunately, this match was a poor attempt at building towards an angle, as Kay Lee Ray caused a no contest by interfering in the match. This was to prove how dominant she is, however that has never been in doubt.
Dani Luna looked ok in the 2 minutes the match lasted, but there are serious issues with the quality of women’s wrestling in NXT UK outside of a small number of women. Amale is unfortunately one of the weaker options on the roster, but Luna clearly has some potential.
Winner: No Contest
Rating: 1/5
WWE NXT
Mia Yim vs Dakota Kai
Mia Yim entered this match as the underdog, primarily due to the amazing run that Dakota Kai has been on as of late. However, Yim was not prepared to roll over and let Kai win without putting up a fight.
Kai dominated the majority of the match, with Raquel Gonzalez acting as an intimidating force on the outside of the ring. This proved to be Kai’s undoing as a distraction to the referee allowed Yim to capitalise, hitting a Codebreaker for the surprise pinfall victory.
Kai was the clear favourite for this match, and she put on a great performance. Hopefully there will be a way to insert her into the women’s ladder match at NXT TakeOver: Tampa Bay as she deserves to win the match and become the number 1 contender to the NXT Women’s Championship. This was a good match, but the finish fell extremely flat.
Winner: Mia Yim
Rating: 2.5/5
Tegan Nox vs Deonna Purrazzo
Tegan Nox was determined to force her way into the women’s ladder match, and all that stood in her way was Deonna Purrazzo.
Nox took control of the match from the beginning, and was able to achieve what Kai failed to do by winning the match. A Shiniest Wizard was all Nox required to put Purrazzo away, and in the process she looked unstoppable.
This match was brief, but it served it’s purpose well as Nox continues to rise up the ladder in NXT.
Winner: Tegan Nox
Rating: 3/5
AEW Dynamite
Nyla Rose & Bea Priestley vs Kris Statlander & Hikaru Shida
Nyla Rose has yet to impose herself on AEW’s women’s division since she became the AEW Women’s Champion, however she teamed up well with Bea Priestley this week to put the whole division on notice.
Hikaru Shida was the star of the match however, with fans clearly rooting for her to win. Kris Statlander remains over with the fans, but it was great to see the wave of support for Shida, who has been a strong part of AEW since Dynamite debuted.
Shida put in a great effort, only to fall victim to a Spear and Beast Bomb from Rose, who gleefully secured the pinfall for her team. This was a quality match which proves how strong AEW's women’s division is.
Winner: Nyla Rose & Bea Priestley
Rating: 3.5/5
Impact Wrestling
Jordynne Grace vs Lacey Ryan
Jordynne Grace once again issued an open challenge, with Lacey Ryan answering the call this week.
Ryan put in a stellar effort against Grace, however it was not enough as Grace was able to use her clear strength advantage to overwhelm Ryan, hitting a Grace Driver for the pinfall victory.
Grace continues to excel as the Impact Knockout’s Champion, and her open challenge is a great way to restore the importance of the title. Grace looks strong, whilst her challengers come away with much needed credibility. This was a much better effort than most of 2019’s Knockout’s matches, and I hope this is a sign of a positive future on the horizon for Impact Wrestling.
Winner: Jordynne Grace
Rating: 3/5
