CHEAP POP OF THE WEEK:
ASUKA AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE
Asuka on commentary during the Rey and Andrea Raw match somehow made up for an entire absent audience. I have no idea what she was saying, but, much like her Japanese promos, you still get the gist behind it all. Add that to her crazy dancing the previous week, and, as long as WWE continues to broadcast out of the Performance Centre, it is clear that Asuka’s inclusion should be mandatory. Whether that is commentary, combat, or, even being on a concession stand.
More Asuka!
CHEAP HEAT OF THE WEEK:
THE MANIA OF MANIA
THE MANIA OF MANIA
It is now official that WrestleMania 36 will be held across multiple locations, across two days, and may incorporate movie like pre-taped material. However, through no fault of their own, there are going to be compromises.
Gone will be the spectacular big stadium entrances, the energy of the crowd, and any semblance that this is the cultivation of our wrestling calendar year. Any title changes or mania moments will undoubtedly feel that much less special. Can you imagine if Drew wins the WWE title? Yes, it will be a big deal, but what a blow if next to nobody is there to celebrate with him. The biggest victory of his career, but one that would get a louder reception if contested in a field of crickets. Similarly, how sad for Edge? He has cited the energy of the crowds being the aspect that he missed the most, and he is going to get none of it here.
Of course, the other options available were to delay the event, which would mean extending stories for an unspecified amount of time, or, actually put it on, and risk infecting thousands of people. What can they do? Sadly, this is the best choice out of the poor hand that they have been dealt.
So there you have it, my two choices for the week. What do YOU think are the Cheap Pop and Cheap Heat this week in professional wrestling? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
