Call the Spot on the Card #20: WWE Elimination Chamber 2020 Participants

Posted by Anthony Mango Monday, March 2, 2020
Welcome to another edition of CALL THE SPOT, where we present a list of wrestlers and you must choose what place on the WWE Roster Hierarchy they should be put in: Hall of Fame, Main Event, Upper Midcard, Midcard, Jobber and Released (or any alternative extra categories that may be added for bigger lists).

The rules are that each spot must be filled and only one person can be in each spot, so no ties can happen, nor can anyone opt out. No matter how difficult it might be, you have to pick.

Call the Spot on the Card WWE Elimination Chamber competitors

This edition will focus on the tag teams and women competing at the WWE Elimination Chamber 2020 pay-per-view event's cage matches coming up on March 8th.

SMACKDOWN TAG TEAM ELIMINATION CHAMBER MATCH

Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode vs. Heavy Machinery vs. John Morrison and The Miz vs. Lucha House Party vs. The New Day vs. The Usos

6) SPLIT = Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode /or/ RELEASED = Lucha House Party

Last time around with these tag team options, I changed it up so the bottom spot was Split rather than Released. In that case, I'd break up Ziggler and Roode. Both of them are better off as singles stars if WWE bothered to use them to their skills.

* Note: If you go with Released instead of Split, I'd get rid of Lucha House Party. Even though I do think Kalisto and Lince Dorado are good hands, they're better to sacrifice than losing Ziggler and Roode. In that case, I'd put Ziggler and Roode in Midcard and adjust accordingly.

5) JOBBER = Lucha House Party

They're well past their expiration date. The gimmick isn't going to catch on in any significant way. While they're good workers, they're not worth investing in more than enhancement talent as far as the tag team division goes. On their own, as singles talent, they could be big deals in other promotions, so I'd be tempted to release them (as mentioned above), but if we're working under the Split option, there's no need to split these guys up. You'd just have one less tag team and 3 people who have no purpose in the singles division.

4) MIDCARD = Heavy Machinery

Otis is the man. Tucker is there to fill in the gaps. This is textbook midcard.

3) UPPER MIDCARD = John Morrison and The Miz

Unfortunately, Morrison and The Miz are in a list with two tag teams that are just definitively better than them, overall. This is the highest spot I could give them, and that's hard, as I've always been fond of this pairing.

2) MAIN EVENT = The Usos

Jimmy and Jey are bona fide Hall of Famers. The Usos are one of the best tag teams in pro wrestling from the past decade. The only reason they're not in the top spot is because, well, look at who is left.

1) HALL OF FAME = The New Day

C'mon. It's The New Day. This stable is one of my favorites of all time and has really been responsible in breathing a lot of life into the division for the past bunch of years. They've set numerous records and are so deserving of a future HOF spot. It's going to happen. It's definitive.

WOMEN'S ELIMINATION CHAMBER MATCH

Asuka vs. Liv Morgan vs. Natalya vs. Ruby Riott vs. Sarah Logan vs. Shayna Baszler

6) RELEASED = Sarah Logan

I've never been all that fond of Logan. She's not awful and I wouldn't release her for real, but she's very low on the totem pole for me. On this list, especially, there was just nobody I would be more okay with losing than her. She could go to AEW and help out that women's division, for instance.

5) JOBBER = Liv Morgan

What's interesting is that I was more fond of Morgan when she was greener than how she is now. You'd think I would have a higher opinion of her after she learned how to be better in the ring, instead. But nope...I still feel like she doesn't have too much to offer that others don't.

4) MIDCARD = Ruby Riott

Riott is one of those women who I feel had more of a chance at becoming a champion until they decided to give her a stable. The Riott Squad ruined her in some ways. She went from being a standout to being just one of a lackluster trio. Even though she was the leader, the master of fools is nothing to be proud of.

But Riott still can work and there's no reason why she couldn't at least be a midcarder.

3) UPPER MIDCARD = Asuka

I'd want to put her in the Hall of Fame spot, as she deserves it. However, I'm using that as a thing about if someone were to go away, and I don't want Asuka to stop. She hasn't been given her due credit, though. She really should have had a better main roster run so far than she's had.

2) MAIN EVENT = Shayna Baszler

Gotta go with the momentum and how great of a heel she is. The Queen of Spades dominated NXT and deserved to be in that spot. She's one of the few Superstars in the women's division that I would trust to hold the title and not make fans want to stop tuning in.

1) HALL OF FAME = Natalya

Nattie has never been the top of the division, in my mind. However, she's always been one of the most reliable people on the roster. She's a foundational performer in the ring (who was always underwhelming on the mic) and has long proven herself a future Hall of Famer.
