WWE Tables, Ladders and Chairs 2020 Spoilers

WWE Championship TLC Match: Drew McIntyre (c) vs. AJ Styles

Reports had said Braun Strowman was next in line, but he suffered an injury. AJ Styles was someone I thought WWE could save for WrestleMania, but I guess they didn't want to rush the Sheamus feud (which might be the Mania thing). In the meantime, Styles vs. McIntyre is great. I've been looking forward to this match for a long while and it will probably be among the best of the card. I don't think Styles is going to win the title, but nothing is ever fully guaranteed.

PREDICTION: Drew McIntyre retains the title.

Universal Championship TLC Match: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Kevin Owens

Daniel Bryan might be saved for WrestleMania, so Kevin Owens is definitely the best possible challenger for Roman Reigns right now. KO is a former universal champion in his own right and a reliable worker. There's no doubt in my mind he'll put up a good fight against Reigns, but ultimately come up short.

PREDICTION: Roman Reigns retains the title.

Firefly Inferno Match: Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyatt

This does nothing for me. I haven't loved their previous feuds and I don't think Wyatt should be playing tweener or babyface here while Alexa Bliss is a full-blown heel against Nikki Cross. Nor do I think Orton is being done justice, as he's coming across too cool right now. It's the type of thing that negates his Legend Killer heel status. Both of these guys should have been feuding with other babyfaces, in my opinion. Honestly, I'd probably have gone with Wyatt challenging McIntyre and had Styles feuding with Keith Lee or Matt Riddle while Orton takes time off or feuds with Jeff Hardy. Whatever. It's happening. I'll probably think it's even more of a mistake in retrospect. We'll see.

Update from 12/17: WWE has now randomly turned this into a "Firefly Inferno Match". Why they didn't bother mentioning that on Monday Night Raw so people could actually know about it ahead of time and maybe convince them to tune in is beyond me. I only try to think of things rationally and try to apply logic, which isn't how WWE operates sometimes. Why is it a Firefly Inferno Match? Because Orton set Wyatt on fire, in a sense. What's the difference between that and the previous Inferno Match and Ring of Fire? They haven't specified. Because it doesn't matter.

PREDICTION: Randy Orton wins if you have to set your opponent on fire since it's easier to do with Wyatt's clothes. If you don't have to, then Bray Wyatt wins. It depends on the rules.

Note: Lana was removed from this match. Asuka's new partner has yet to be announced.

Women's Tag Team Championship Match: Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler (c) vs. Asuka and TBA (Lana taken out of the match)

Rather than set up a credible challenger to face Asuka for the Raw Women's Championship, much more focus has been put the past month on this story of Lana going through a table and fighting Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler. You'd have to assume WWE is holding back on a Raw women's title match for this event, too, because they're just flat out not interested in Asuka and this Lana thing is significantly more important to them.

That sucks. You shouldn't book a champion so poorly like Asuka for months on end where it's clear she's holding the title but she's not a priority. If that's the case, why'd you give her the belt? It's not like it's a two week stretch where you don't know what to do with her. They haven't been giving her anything solid since pretty much the start as they cared more about The Golden Role Models, too, for instance.

I'm the opposite of WWE in that I'm not interested in this match. Knowing WWE, they'll probably put the belts on Asuka and Lana for a gag. However, I'm going to say Jax and Baszler retain and this sets up a Triple Threat or Fatal 4-Way for Asuka's title on an episode of Raw.

Update from 12/14: Lana was rendered unable to compete and WWE announced that Asuka would have a new tag team partner that is yet to be announced. I'm getting the feeling it might be Charlotte Flair who replaces her and they try to use that as a launching pad for Asuka vs Flair at or before Royal Rumble.

PREDICTION: Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler retain the titles.

SmackDown Women's Championship Match: Sasha Banks (c) vs. Carmella

After having Carmella attack Sasha multiple times, this was a given. I don't have a whole lot of faith this is going to be a killer match whatsoever. In fact, I'd bet that it's almost guaranteed to be worse than Sasha's last few matches have been. But whatever. It's at least better than just doing another match with Bayley.

PREDICTION: Sasha Banks retains the title.

Raw Tag Team Championship Match: The New Day (c) vs. The Hurt Business

After already having a few matches with The Hurt Business, The New Day is fighting them again. I'm a big fan of both teams, but per usual, I'd be much more into this match if we hadn't already seen it a handful of times these past few weeks. Now, it's just the same thing, but repeated.

PREDICTION: The Hurt Business wins the titles.

+ more matches TBA

PREDICTED MATCHES (as of 12/15/2020)

Here are some predictions of matches I could see taking place.

United States Championship Match: Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Matt Riddle

The Hurt Business isn't interested in Matt Riddle's ideas and now that Bobby Lashley attacked him, this seems like a guarantee. I'm all for it. Riddle's a great challenger, if not the next person in line for the title in general.

PREDICTION: I'm 50/50 on this while very slightly leaning toward Riddle.

Intercontinental Championship Match: Sami Zayn (c) vs. Big E

Zayn beat Daniel Bryan, albeit by count out. Big E then started something with Zayn. That seems like a transition from the Bryan feud over to a Big E feud as far as I can tell.

PREDICTION: Big E wins the title.
