The following are my predictions for the 2020 WWE Super ShowDown PPV. Check back for Super ShowDown 2020 results and review coverage here when the time comes.
WWE Super ShowDown 2020 Spoilers |
Universal Championship Match: Bray Wyatt (c) vs. Goldberg
The graphics were put out there a while back for Bray Wyatt against Kane in an Inferno Match. Clearly, either they were false, or plans changed, as he's fighting Goldberg instead.
It still doesn't ultimately change the outcome in my mind. There's no way they're taking the title away from The Fiend before WrestleMania. That means either Wyatt retains through pinning Goldberg, having the referee stop the match, or some kind of disqualification to preserve Goldberg's win-loss record.
Then again, there are lots of rumors floating around that Goldberg will win the title. I don't know if I buy into them, but the more buzz there is, the more I'm doubting that fervent guarantee that Wyatt will retain. Sometimes, where there's smoke, there's fire.
PREDICTION: Bray Wyatt retains the title, even if he technically loses the match by DQ or something.
SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match: The New Day (c) vs. John Morrison and The Miz
This is tough. Do they keep up the trend of having Morrison and Miz beating The New Day and put the titles on the fresher team? Or, in typical WWE fashion, do they have The New Day retain to avoid the predictable outcome so that they can stretch this out further and have the title change hands at Elimination Chamber, WrestleMania or somewhere along the way on SmackDown?
I'm still leaning toward new champions being crowned, but I'm not sold that it is a guarantee.
PREDICTION: 75% going with Miz and Morrison to win.
WWE Championship Match: Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Ricochet
Absolutely no way in hell the title changes hands. Sorry, Ricochet. You're a sacrificial lamb. However, just imagine if they bothered to give Ricochet a fighting chance and then followed it up with a solid push for the United States title heading into WrestleMania. This could do wonders for him. It most likely won't, as it'll probably be a squash and/or they'll follow it up with nothing for him to do in March and a lackluster Mania match, but I'm hoping WWE maximizes the potential here.
PREDICTION: Brock Lesnar retains the title.
Steel Cage Match: Roman Reigns vs. King Corbin
We've seen it how many times now? This should have ended at TLC.
PREDICTION: Roman Reigns wins.
Note: Rey Mysterio has replaced Rusev. |
Tuwaiq Trophy Gauntlet Match
So apparently, there is a mountain called Mount Tuwaiq, which the prince considers to be a symbol of the strength of the Saudi people.
And that's going to be the gimmick match of this event (minus the steel cage match), similar to the World Cup trophy and the biggest battle royal and Greatest Royal Rumble.
Advertised for this match, which of course may change, is currently AJ Styles, Andrade, Bobby Lashley, Erick Rowan, R-Truth and Rusev, who was then replaced with Rey Mysterio, although the graphics didn't replace him, funny enough.
That is quite a randoms smattering of people, especially with Andrade's suspension ending only right before then. My guess is they'll do the shtick of R-Truth starting off with maybe Bobby Lashley and beating him, then losing to maybe Andrade, who will lose to Rey Mysterio, who beats Erick Rowan as well and then AJ Styles swoops in and gets the win.
PREDICTION: AJ Styles wins.
SmackDown Women's Championship Match: Bayley (c) vs. Naomi
I thought this would be a Triple Threat with Carmella involved, too. Very surprised to see it is just Carmella. What's funny is I still have NO idea what they're planning on doing for WrestleMania and the more time that goes by without something being hinted at, the more I think this will be disappointing in April.
PREDICTION: Bayley retains the title.
Raw Tag Team Championship Match: Seth Rollins and Murphy (c) vs. The Street Profits
Hm.....I could totally see the titles changing hands. But, then again, maybe that's exactly why they won't. More on this another time.
PREDICTION: I'm 50/50 on this.
Mansoor vs. Dolph Ziggler
They didn't even try to build something for Mansoor. While I think the match will be good, it's a shame they didn't put literally one minute's worth of screen time leading up to this (other than an announcement on The Bump, which doesn't count) toward making this more than just a last minute addition.
PREDICTION: Mansoor wins.
The Viking Raiders (Erik and Ivar) vs. The O.C. (Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows)
This is just eating up time. They aren't even feuding. Not a fan.
PREDICTION: The Viking Raiders win.
Angel Garza vs. Humberto Carrillo
OMG enough of this. How many of these matches have we seen already?! IT JUST HAPPENED ON RAW THIS WEEK. I could not care less about this and I don't know why they keep thinking they should just copy and paste the same stuff on repeat and expect anybody to be invested in it. I'm a big fan of Garza, but he needs other opponents, not just because Carrillo doesn't have the same charisma, but because it's boring to see the same match 10x with nothing different to it.
PREDICTION: Humberto Carrillo wins.
