WWE SummerSlam 2020 Results |
Coverage set to start at 6pm ET.
United States Championship Match: Apollo Crews (c) vs. MVP
RESULT: Apollo Crews retained the title by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Basic. There was no need to have this match, as they already fought. This should have been Crews against Bobby Lashley.
SmackDown Women's Championship Match: Bayley (c) vs. Asuka
RESULT: Bayley retained the title by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: The match itself was fine, but nothing I was interested in. The ending, with Sasha Banks helping distract Asuka so Bayley could get a roll-up, was pretty much exactly what it should be.
Raw Tag Team Championship Match: The Street Profits (c) vs. Andrade and Angel Garza
RESULT: The Street Profits retained by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: We've seen this match countless times and they did nothing different. If you missed this event, it seems like all you missed is reruns.
No Disqualification Loser Leaves WWE: Mandy Rose vs. Sonya Deville
RESULT: Mandy Rose won by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Wow, this was underwhelming. They didn't even go through the table they had set up. This was just a series of knee strikes from Mandy and nothing much else. If that's a result of Sonya being shaken up from her recent issues, then I understand, but if this is a result of anything else, then who booked this shit?
Street Fight: Seth Rollins vs. Dominick Mysterio
RESULT: Seth Rollins won by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Best match so far. Dominik did a good job.
Raw Women's Championship Match: Sasha Banks (c) vs. Asuka
RESULT: Asuka won the title by pinfall submission!
THOUGHTS: Good. The match was solid and the outcome was the way it should have gone. I don't think the actual finish specifically was as great as they could have booked, but the ultimate idea is that Asuka should have left as champion and thankfully, did. That's what matters most.
WWE Championship Match: Drew McIntyre (c) vs. Randy Orton
RESULT: Drew McIntyre retained the title by pinfall with a backslide.
THOUGHTS: Rock solid match. I'm glad McIntyre retained. I liked this quite a bit.
Keith Lee is going to be on Raw tomorrow night. Interesting...
Universal Championship Falls Count Anywhere Match: Braun Strowman (c) vs. "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt
RESULT: Bray Wyatt won the title by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: This was going well, but the ending was SO DAMN FLAT and disappointing.
Roman Reigns makes his surprise return by spearing The Fiend (guess we know why the title changed hands). Reigns then speared Strowman, too. He then yelled "I made you. You're not a monster unless I'm here."
