WWE Clash of Champions 2020 Spoilers |
WWE Championship Ambulance Match: Drew McIntyre (c) vs. Randy Orton
Randy Orton defeated Kevin Owens, then Seth Rollins and Keith Lee to earn this title shot. At least they went ahead and gave him a match to get the opportunity, rather than just being granted it for the sake of "idk, let's do that feud some more" like they do with plenty of other things.
I'm on the fence about this. On one hand, I could definitely see Orton walking out the champion. However, with Survivor Series coming up in November and Roman Reigns as a heel champion, I don't think the game plan is Orton vs. Reigns at that show. Of course, they could just get around that by having the titles defended instead of doing the champion vs. champion thing, as they've circumvented their own established rules and ignored that stuff in the past, but I'm hoping they don't paint themselves into a corner that they then have to bullshit us about to save themselves. I'd rather it just be McIntyre vs. Reigns (vs. the NXT champion, if that brand will still be involved) and leave it be.
As it stands, I'll go with Orton winning the title, but I'm not sold on it.
Update: Once they changed it to an Ambulance Match, my position changed. Now, I think it will be a no-contest with both of them getting taken away. Either they'll take each other out in a draw, or RETRIBUTION will attack them both and lay them out.
PREDICTION: Draw.
Universal Championship Match: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Jey Uso
Hey! Look at that! Something totally different! Despite how there's no way at all Uso wins this match, I'm actually super into this idea and excited to see this match. This could be a lot of fun and I'm interested to see the angle they go with for it. It's cool to see one of the Usos getting a singles push out of nowhere. I'm sure Jey's going to do everything he can to make the most out of this opportunity. Very, very cool.
PREDICTION: Roman Reigns retains the title.
SmackDown Women's Championship Match: Bayley (c) vs. Nikki Cross
FFS. How many times do they have to do this match? Is this the ONLY match they can ever do?! Bayley has fought Nikki Cross in some form or fashion THIRTY TIMES in the past year.
THIRTY TIMES. WHY?! Good lord, I stopped caring about this match by spring of 2019 and they just keep rinsing and repeating. Who in WWE thinks this is so damn good that they can just keep going back to the same thing CONSTANTLY?
PREDICTION: Bayley retains the title.
Women's Tag Team Championship Match: Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler (c) vs. The Riott Squad
It depends on if WWE is invested in their new,
but not as interesting version of Team Hell No. If they want to build on
that, then Nia and Shayna have to retain. But if they were only paired
up to "do something interesting for a bit" and to get the belts off The
Golden Role Models, they can argue with each other and drop the belts to
Liv Morgan and Ruby Riott here.
PREDICTION: Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax retain the titles.
SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match: Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura (c) vs. Lucha House Party
They've done this like 20 times. Unless they actually pull the trigger on Kalisto and/or Lince Dorado turning heel or actually put the titles on Lucha House Party, what's the purpose other than filling time and dragging shit out?
PREDICTION: Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura retain the titles.
Intercontinental Championship Triple Threat Ladder Match: Jeff Hardy (c) vs. Sami Zayn vs. AJ Styles
I'm digging this, I like ladder matches, I enjoy all three of these wrestlers and I think they're going to have one of the best matches of the night. Thumbs up.
PREDICTION: Jeff Hardy retains the title.
Raw Tag Team Championship Match: The Street Profits (c) vs. Angel Garza and Andrade
Fucking seriously? This is the FOURTEENTH match these people have had against each other this year in some fashion. 14 MATCHES. DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT.
PREDICTION: Who cares? They'll have another 50 matches even if the titles don't change hands.
Raw Women's Championship Match: Asuka (c) vs. Zelina Vega
WWE sure put a lot of effort into this feud, didn't they? Vega goes "I want a match" and then beats Mickie James. The end.
United States Championship Match: Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Apollo Crews
Look at what I had written up weeks in advance:
I hope they don't just go with an Apollo Crews rematch to stretch things out. Who am I kidding, though? There's no way they'll move on to building a whole new feud if they can get an extra month out of repeating the same thing.
If it's not Lashley vs. Crews, it'll be Lashley against Cedric Alexander, I guess.
See what happened?
PREDICTION: Bobby Lashley retains.
