WEDNESDAY NIGHT WAR:
AEW DYNAMITE vs. NXT
FACTOR 1: MATCHES
Angel Garza vs. Lio Rush was my favorite of the matches this week. Both had some good and some blah. The NXT ones felt like they mattered more to me in the grand scheme of pushing storylines and such, outside of the Texas Street Fight.
WINNER: NXT
FACTOR 2: PROMOS
MJF's promo was the best of the two shows entirely.
WINNER: AEW
FACTOR 3: STORYLINES
NXT saw a new champion crowned, the continuation of the Grimes/Kushida/Mendoza story, some build to Worlds Collide and the establishment of a No. 1 contender.
AEW had a Moxley squash, the debut of The Butcher and The Blade, an MJF promo, hints at a feud between Omega and Page, the continuation of Janela/Spears, more setup for Jungle Boy against Chris Jericho and the tag title situation.
It's almost a tie, but AEW slightly wins by numbers.
WINNER: AEW
FACTOR 4: SCHEDULING / PACING
NXT always feels like a lighter show to me and is easier to watch.
WINNER: NXT
EXTRA CREDIT BONUS ROUND!!!
AEW gains a point for Alex Reynolds being targeted by The Dark Order, although I think it would have been better if they aired this segment next week.
AEW loses points for going further down the spiral of Jim Ross and the commentary team getting people's names wrong and muttering over faulty information and such. That's really gotten to be bothersome and they need to address that. Another point docked for giving Brandi Rhodes more time to do this Nightmare Collective nonsense.
NXT gains points for the proposal and Breezango's entrance. No point deductions.
POINT ADJUSTMENTS: AEW (+1 / -2) / NXT (+2 / -0)
THIS WEEK'S WINNER = NXT
That's my pick for the better show of the week, but how do YOU stand?
Which was better, Dynamite or NXT?
