Wednesday Night War: AEW Dynamite vs. WWE NXT Review (November 20, 2019)

Posted by Anthony Mango Thursday, November 21, 2019
Welcome to another edition of Wednesday Night War from Smark Out Moment, where we compare this week's episodes of AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT and determine which one of the two was the better show.

which wrestling TV show was better this week NXT vs AEW

WEDNESDAY NIGHT WAR:

AEW DYNAMITE vs. NXT

FACTOR 1: MATCHES

Some good matches all around, but NXT had The Undisputed ERA vs. The Revival and the ladder match. Even though I was fond of the Dynamite Dozen Battle Royal as my #3, and I know people will say Fenix vs. Nick Jackson was their favorite match, I'm going NXT.

WINNER: NXT

FACTOR 2: PROMOS

I didn't care for Becky Lynch and Rhea Ripley at the beginning of NXT, nor the vignettes. What I did like, though, was Chris Jericho and Scorpio Sky having their segment.

WINNER: AEW

FACTOR 3: STORYLINES

NXT was a go-home for 2 events that got clustered together and was rather lazy. All WWE seems to want to do (or know how to do) is have Raw and SmackDown people interfere and start a brawl. I'm tired of it.

AEW furthered the Jericho/Sky thing, set up a contender for Riho, drilled home the point that The Lucha Bros are heels, had some fun in the battle royal and more. Easy win for AEW this week.

WINNER: AEW

FACTOR 4: SCHEDULING / PACING

Both shows were pretty strong this week, but I'll give the advantage to NXT. I did find myself skipping through a portion of Private Party vs. Proud-N-Powerful after getting antsy to just be done with watching all this.

WINNER: NXT

EXTRA CREDIT BONUS ROUND!!!

AEW gains points for Billy Gunn showing up and Darby Allin trying something new with his entrance.

AEW loses a point for not having much cohesion for Inner Circle vs. seemingly everyone in the company. Why is it that Brandon Cutler and Michael Nakazawa and Jurassic Express and The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega and Cody and Dustin Rhodes and (and and and) are feuding with this one stable and yet, certain people still don't come out during each brawl?

NXT gains points for nothing and loses points for not announcing a single person for Team NXT for the men or women.

Even though I enjoyed NXT more as an overall show, the mathematical winner this week is different.

POINT ADJUSTMENTS: AEW (+2 / -1) / NXT (+0 / -2)

THIS WEEK'S WINNER = AEW

That's my pick for the better show of the week, but how do YOU stand?
Which was better, Dynamite or NXT?
