CHEAP POP OF THE WEEK:
WARRIORS RISE
After months of going nowhere, I am so pleased to see the seismic shift in career momentum for the Kabuki Warriors. Hampered from the start by the unfitting pairing with Paige, who thankfully now seems out of the picture, the team never quite captured the crowd nor got a decent winning streak going. However, their careers took an exciting turn when they finally took the women’s tag titles from Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross at Hell in a Cell and turned heel in the process.
I did like Bliss and Cross as champs, but I feel that Asuka and Kairi Sane needed this more, and, frankly, so does WWE. Last week's episode of Raw was, with certain exceptions, largely filler, but the women’s championship showcase match would have stood out even on a far stronger episode.
Plus, I love the reintroduction of the Green Mist. I know that Tajiri briefly brought it back for 205 Live, but it has been otherwise largely absent from WWE programming for some time. It makes for an amazing visual, and is one of those moves that can be used to escape from the tightest of predicaments.
Now, if only we could fix that lazy theme mash….
CHEAP HEAT OF THE WEEK:
ECLIPSE
ECLIPSE
Sad news to report on the injury front with Ember Moon potentially out of action for a considerable amount of time after suffering, what is thought to be, an ankle or Achilles injury. While no injury is good, the former is certainly the lesser of two evils.
The latter would mean that it may be up to a whole year before she is cleared to wrestle again, and, while hardly on the verge of a massive push, she is an extremely solid hand who, for reasons fans cannot fathom, is underutilized. With Sasha Banks also reportedly having medical issues, Asuka is likely to be Becky Lynch’s next foe, but, assuming that she does not prevail, WWE are in going to be in dire need of high caliber wrestlers to square off against Becky and Bayley.
After all, there is only so many times that Charlotte Flair can be wheeled out to win.
Right?
