AEW Full Gear 2019 Results |
Buy In: Britt Baker vs. Bea Priestley
RESULT: Baker won by submission.
THOUGHTS: Good enough match. It did its purpose.
Awesome Kong and Brandi Rhodes attacked Priestley after the match. Kong then cut off some of Priestley's hair and put it on her belt. I guess she's going to do that going forward.
Proud-N-Powerful (Ortiz and Santana) vs. The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson)
RESULT: Ortiz and Santana won by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: FANTASTIC match. This might have been my favorite match so far in all of AEW.
After the match, Sammy Guevara came out with a sock filled with baseballs. The Rock 'n' Roll Express helped fight them off.
"Hangman" Adam Page vs. Pac
RESULT: Page won by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Good, but it couldn't follow up the previous thing and I found myself wanting it to end a few minutes earlier than it was, if I'm honest.
Shawn Spears vs. Joey Janela
RESULT: Spears won by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: This was fine, but weaker than the previous two. I did like the piledriver, though. I miss those.
Superbad Kip Sabian is interviewed by Goldenboy. His change in heart is that he saw a bunch of cliques and joined up with TH2. Penelope Ford comes over to him, gives him a kiss on the cheek and says "Why be bad, when you can be superbad?" and that she's bored by Goldenboy, so they leave.
World Tag Team Championship Match: SoCal Uncensored (Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky) (c) vs. Lucha Brothers (Pentagon Jr. and Fenix) vs. Private Party (Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen)
RESULT: SoCal Uncensored won by pinfall (Kazarian pinned Kassidy).
THOUGHTS: Very disappointing. This could have been great, but it just wasn't.
Lucha Bros attacked SCU after the match. The lights go out and when they come back on, there's another Pentagon, they refer to as Pentagon Tres. He takes them out and unmasks and it's Christopher Daniels.
Women's World Championship Match: Riho (c) vs. Emi Sakura
RESULT: Riho retained by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Better than I thought it would be, but still kind of meh. I guess I just don't like Riho and Emi Sakura as by this point, they haven't wowed me a single time.
AEW World Championship Match: Chris Jericho (c) vs. Cody
RESULT: Jericho retained after MJF threw in the towel on Cody's behalf.
THOUGHTS: Cody never actually gave up, so there's your loophole. They could always go back to this later, too, by saying MJF did that to take Cody off the table as a potential champion when they want to have those two feud. Pretty smart. Great match.
Speaking of getting to it...MJF hit Cody with a low blow after the match! A fan (I'd assume a plant) threw water on MJF as he made his way up the ramp.
Lights Out Match: Jon Moxley vs. Kenny Omega
RESULT: Moxley won by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: God damn. That was fucking brutal and so, so good. One of my favorite matches in not just AEW, but also WWE, all year.
