WWE Title Change: New Women's Tag Team Champions Crowned on Monday Night Raw 8/5/2019 | Smark Out Moment
The WWE Women's Tag Team Championship has changed hands as Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross defeated The IIconics (as well as Fire & Desire and The Kabuki Warriors) to win the titles on the August 5, 2019 edition of Monday Night Raw.

My immediate reaction: Called it immediately upon the announcement. I look at this as WWE saying, in so many words, that they had no plans for this past year, which is blatantly obvious. They do the booking strategy of "we'll figure it out" and when they don't figure it out, they just say "fuck it, nobody will remember, let's move on." It happened with the lack of planning between Sasha Banks and Bayley, then The IIconics did nothing with the belts for MONTHS, despite even having challengers set up for them in The Kabuki Warriors, as they dragged their ass and didn't execute the match. Why? Was it because they needed to save it for a big show? Clearly not. Was it because The IIconics needed to keep the titles as they were drawing champions with any semblance of a storyline going on every week, or even bi-weekly? Of course not. It's just that they didn't know what to do, didn't want to pull the trigger on a title change, and didn't care about the division at all. So once they started having Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross on every episode of Raw and SmackDown for the past 3 months, they must have realized they should just put the tag titles on them, because they're at least getting television time (something they have full control over, mind you, so it's not that they're playing into circumstances that they didn't create to begin with). It's a smart way to put the belts out there on people they'll actually give screen time to, but it's a "smart answer" to a dumb problem they never should have been in from the beginning, because all they had to do was plan what to do with Banks and Bayley, or at least The IIconics, at SOME point.
