CHEAP POP OF THE WEEK:
CLAWING HIS WAY TO THE TOP
There was not much on the Raw reunion that contributed much in the way long-term benefits or developments in the current stories, but there was a notable exception in the form of the Mick Foley and Bray Wyatt exchange. It is not known whether this was pitched to him this way, or whether Foley himself suggested it, but, either way, he should still be applauded for being the only legend truly willing to put over a current roster star on this night.
Yes, some physically cannot take any moves, but there are other ways to get around this if they were really wanted. Foley must believe in Wyatt to have willed to do so, and the backing of a legend of Mick’s caliber can never be a bad thing.
As for the attack itself, I love the idea that Wyatt might now be adopting the mandible claw. While he should certainly keep Sister Abigail, as it works better when followed by pin-fall, but creating ties between himself and the boiler room dwelling Mankind makes sense. Both are deranged in their own way, and both have/had all the potential to be properly scary.
Well, just as long as Michael Cole remains quiet!
CHEAP HEAT OF THE WEEK:
RAW REUNION
RAW REUNION
With the exception of Bray Wyatt, Raw Reunion had disconcertingly little thought towards doing much to build stories or characters going forward.
I loved seeing the likes of RVD and The Hurricane stroll out, but they did not actually do anything, and all for the purpose of Sami Zayn being made to look like a chump? How does that work in the long-term? It was funny when Heath Slater lost to all the legends in 2012, but that worked in the context of his character. This? Not so much.
Similarly, I would argue that neither Seth Rollins nor O.C came out of the DX/NWO segment smelling of roses. Yes, these groups are in the conversation for greatest factions in history, but how dominating are we meant to consider the O.C if they cannot overcome a posse of largely retired wrestlers?
As for Seth? Move aside Lonely Virgil meme, we might just have a new contender…
