This week, Dallas Allsopp, Greg Coleman, and Robert DeFelice will be giving their thoughts on what may happen at AEW Fyter Fest 2019!
Question 1: As a starting point, did you watch Double Or Nothing? What did you think of the first outing from All Elite Wrestling?
COLEMAN: I did watch Double or Nothing and I thought it was a great first outing for AEW. The show was well structured, had true surprises, and the 3 headlining matches delivered.
ALLSOPP: I watched Double or Nothing and was impressed with how consistent the show was. It genuinely felt like a real alternative to WWE, showcasing some of the best wrestlers in this business. Jon Moxley making his debut was the talk of the wrestling world, and it feels this show was the springboard for the strong start he has made to his post WWE career. In Kenny Omega, Adam Page and Jon Moxley. AEW has a bright future.
DeFELICE: Double Or Nothing was a very important show for professional wrestling as a whole and I believe that they gathered enough good momentum and moving forward into ALL OUT, there will be a lot more people focused on this new brand than there were focused on it even last month.
Question 2: Are you at all familiar with Darby Allin? Jon Moxley recently spotlighted him as a major player, how well do you think he will do against Cody Rhodes at AEW Fyter Fest?
DeFELICE: I'm familiar with Darby from a bountiful of EVOLVE matchups. I really believe he has a chance at beating Cody Rhodes here. Cody can absorb the loss and this would put Darby on the map like no other match.
ALLSOPP: I’m familiar with Allin from EVOLVE, which means I am ‘all in’ on him competing in AEW. My only concern is how Cody has a tendency to underperform in matches. If Allin is able to show just why he had a huge fan base in EVOLVE, AEW may have a new fan favorite. Check out his match with Velveteen Dream from EVOLVE 113 if you want to see just how good he is.
COLEMAN: I'm not familiar with Darby Allin but based on what I’ve heard I believe he will do well against Cody at Fyter Fest.
Question 3: It's Jon Moxley’s first AEW match. He will be facing Joey Janela, someone who is also known for going to the extreme. How important is this match for Janela with people likely looking right past this to August where Jon Moxley will fight Kenny Omega?
ALLSOPP: In Moxley, Janela has an opponent who has no problem in making him look like a star. This will help Janela in getting over with AEW fans as well as making him look like a credible opponent against the bigger stars such as Omega, which is hugely important to his value within the company. Janela has all the tools needed to succeed in AEW, and this match should be his true coming out party.
DeFELICE: This match is monumentally important for Jon Moxley as he looks to make an impact in his new home base here in America. For Joey Janela, this match is everything. I think it's fair to say that more people will be watching this than any other Joey Janela match to date, and with the added stipulation of being a non-sanctioned brawl, I think the creative floodgates have opened and I believe we are in for a really good match on what may be a sleeper event.
COLEMAN: Janela should view this match as his coming out party and his chance to establish himself as a major player in AEW. He will have the perfect platform to make a statement against a well-known opponent. He should let it all hang out and try to steal the show.
Those are our thoughts on the issue, but where do you stand?
