EVOLVE 131 Results

The Future is Now Showcase Match: Josh Briggs vs. Anthony Greene with Brandi Lauren

RESULT: Josh Briggs wins by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Thumbs up, for the most part. Briggs stood out over Greene, for sure. Bring him into NXT.

Four-Way Freestyle: Curt Stallion vs. Sean Maluta vs. Stephen Wolf vs. Harlem Bravado

RESULT: Stephen Wolf wins by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: If this were shorter, I would have liked it more. Maluta and Wolf stood out to me. Stallion and Bravado, I wasn't feeling. But all in all, this was fine, albeit too reliant on super kicks and enziguri spots.

Grudge Match: Anthony Henry vs. Arturo Ruas

RESULT: Arturo Ruas wins by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Big fan of how this was a different style match, with the two of them striking each other harder and giving me more of a feel that they actually wanted to fight, rather than that they set out to have a choreographed performance. I say, give Anthony Henry another look and actually use Ruas in NXT going forward.

No Disqualification Match: Brandi Lauren vs. Shotzi Blackheart

RESULT: Brandi Lauren wins by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Sign those two and Natalia Markova to the next Mae Young Classic and then, potentially, NXT. This was easily my favorite match so far.

Special Challenge Match: Babatunde vs. Colby Corino

RESULT: Babatunde wins by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Babatunde is huge. Colby Corino isn't.

EVOLVE Tag Team Championship Match: Eddie Kingston and Joe Gacy (c) vs. AR Fox and Leon Ruff with Ayla and The Skulk

RESULT: Fox and Ruff wins by pinfall to become the new tag team champions.
THOUGHTS: Not bad. Ruff and Fox were kind of fun. Kingston seems like he can talk but I don't know about the future of his in-ring career. Gacy, didn't think too much about him, to be honest.

Catch Point Reunion Match: Matt Riddle vs. Drew Gulak

RESULT: Matt Riddle wins by pinfall
THOUGHTS: Not as good as I was hoping, but that's not to say it was bad, because it wasn't. I just thought this could be something really special, and it was just a normal good match.

Winner Take All: EVOLVE Champion Austin Theory vs. WWN Champion JD Drake

RESULT: Austin Theory wins by pinfall
THOUGHTS: Sign Austin Theory to NXT. Give him a contract. He's only 21 and he's got a ton of potential.

NXT Championship Match: Adam Cole (c) vs. Akira Tozawa

RESULT: Adam Cole wins by pinfall
THOUGHTS: No complaints, but also, not anything I'll be using as a measuring stick for Extreme Rules tomorrow.
