WWE WrestleMania 35 Weekend Preview and Predictions Part 3 - Triple Threat POV

Posted by Robert DeFelice Thursday, April 4, 2019
Welcome to another edition of Triple Threat from Smark Out Moment, where three of us get together to discuss three questions based on one big topic going down in the week of professional wrestling.

This week, Robert DeFelice, Greg Coleman, and Christopher King will be giving their thoughts on portions of WWE's major stories heading into WrestleMania 35 weekend!

We're rapidly approaching WrestleMania 35 weekend. This will be part the final portion of a three-part preview of all of the WWE festivities for the biggest wrestling weekend of the year.

Question 1: What NXT Superstars, if any, would you like to see called up to the main roster following WrestleMania?

DeFELICE: I don't think it's a stretch to say The Velveteen Dream is overdue for a call-up. On the women's side of things, I think the same can be said for Shayna Baszler. Also, I would make an argument that the loser of the NXT Championship Match should immediately be called up.

However, I would also not be surprised to see nobody get called up because I think with the absence of Tommaso Ciampa, NXT needs all the star power it can get.

KING: Shayna Baszler should drop the title to Kari Sane and move to the main roster. Velveteen Dream could definitely come up but truth be told his character would be completely wasted on Raw or Smackdown. I think he needs to stay just so he can win the NXT championship as a consolation prize for his immediate letdown. I can also see no one getting called up yet!

COLEMAN: Seeing as how they’ve poorly utilized a majority of NXT call-ups selfishly I would say none. However to answer the question directly two names come to mind: Shayna Baszler and Aleister Black. Both have accomplished all that they could accomplish in NXT and the time has come for them both to move up. Ricochet could stay in NXT and make some appearances on 205 Live but he has a lot more he could do in NXT. Black and Baszler should move up.

Question 2: John Cena is rumored to have signed on for a match at WrestleMania. What do you see him doing at this year's show of shows?

COLEMAN: I see him filling in for an injured Baron Corbin and wrestling Kurt Angle in his farewell match. The symmetry of the story is beautiful. Cena makes his debut against Angle and Angle makes his last appearance against Cena.

DeFELICE: This may seem a little convoluted, but I definitely think we're getting a rematch of last year where John Cena will face The Undertaker. I believe the Undertaker will interrupt Elias, and proceed to be interrupted by John Cena.

I would like to see these two have an actual match, but I won't hold my breath.

KING: The thought of actually getting a real match with Undertaker would be amazing but I don't see that happening. I wished that Cena would challenge Samoa Joe. So my guess would be a match with Elias or the huge debut of Lars Sullivan

Question 3: Is there any reasonable scenario where Kofi Kingston doesn't walk away as WWE Champion? How would you feel if Kofi ends up losing?

KING: I hate that it took the injury of Mustafa Ali for WWE to actually go all in on Kofi!! The only way they don't give Kofi the win is if New day completely turns on Kofi and we get the split. I still predict they turn on him either after the match or The smackdown after.

COLEMAN: Reasonable in my opinion, no. Reasonable by WWE’s logic, hell yes. They’ve proven they can drop the ball and mess up stories that have pretty much written themselves. I won’t rule out Bryan beating him clean by submission or New Day inexplicably turning on Kofi costing him the title. There is no reason why Kofi should not win the title on Sunday. Notice the nuance. He shouldn’t win by DQ or Count Out. He needs to win the WWE title clean in the middle this Sunday. This will give Vince and WWE a chance to remove some of the stains that the company has worn since having Booker T job to HHH when he should’ve closed that story as World Heavyweight Champion. If Kofi loses or doesn’t feel the title it will further reaffirm the feelings I have about the WWE creative teams competence and highlight yet another questionable booking decision involving a person of color in a high profile match.

DeFELICE: Trust me, anything is possible. However, they're asking for people to crap on their product if they really don't book Kofi Kingston to win. How will I feel if he loses? Deflated and defeated.

Do. Not. Do. This!

Those are our thoughts on the issue, but where do you stand?
