CHEAP POP OF THE WEEK:
BRAY'S BACK
BRAY'S BACK
Is it too premature to talking about Bray Wyatt's new gimmick under the pop banner? Admittedly, I was very down on the concept when all we knew was that his return would involve a buzzard puppet, but now that we know more? Color me intrigued.
Taking the form of a surreal amalgamation between Blue's Clues and Don't Hug Me I'm Scared, Bray's revived persona as a children's TV presenter is captivating to watch. While he has always been a magnificent orator, his gift of the gab had become synonymous with nonsensical tripe.
Teaming with Matt Hardy offered a slight respite to the problem, but more was needed if he ever hoped to return to prominence as a solo star.
Could this be it? I have a good feeling that it might. This was so wonderfully weird and different, it was impossible for it to not stand out. Additionally, many have found that unsettling nature of his reserved madness to be far scarier than anything else that he has ever said or done before. Pretty impressive when you recall that, once upon a time, it was impossible to recall a word of his rambling rhetoric, let alone be in fear of it.
Obviously, how this translates to the ring remains to be seen, but I am cheerfully confident for where this is going.
Till next time children!
CHEAP HEAT OF THE WEEK:
AN UNFLAIR ADVANTAGE?
AN UNFLAIR ADVANTAGE?
I know that this is an unpopular opinion, but I have always rated Charlotte Flair higher than Becky Lynch. As both a character, and for her work in the ring, I think that she will go down as one of the all-time greats.
Of course, some will never stop saying that she only gets pushed because of her name, and while there probably is a degree of truth to that, she would not continue to get the chances if she could not deliver upon them.
There is more criteria involved than simply having a famous name, lest we forget the likes of Curtis Axel, Harry Smith, Ted DiBiase jr, and even Cody Rhodes. All excellent legacy talent, but never seen as top-tier guys by WWE.
However, that all being said, is it too soon for Charlotte to be getting another title shot? Despite being one her biggest supporters, even I am going to say that, yes, it is. We have had Becky vs. Charlotte for what feels like nearly nine months straight, and this surely could have waited a little longer before yet another high-profile feud?
I have no doubt that it will be a killer match, but skipping out on Charlotte to let the likes of Bayley have a go sounds like a fresher idea. Yes, I am still looking forward to it, but another month or two of breathing room would not have gone amiss.
So there you have it, my two choices for the week. What do YOU think are the Cheap Pop and Cheap Heat this week in professional wrestling? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
