CHEAP POP OF THE WEEK:
A BRISK BUILD
A BRISK BUILD
Some matches on the WrestleMania card have had the luxury of months of build-up. Others, such as AJ Styles vs. Randy Orton, have not been given quite as much time. However, it would be grossly unfair to deny that they are not making the most of their comparably short screen time. From run ins to run downs, the pair continued their tirade against one another this past week, with Orton continuing to mock AJ Styles for his indy past, and Styles firing back barbs about Orton’s lax compliance with the wellness policy.
In addition, while I still do not think a talk show is the best use of him, Kevin Owens is making the most of what he has, and merely his expression and exit from the ring added much to this moment.
Historically, Orton feuds are good when he cares, but dull when he does not. Thankfully, this one looks like it is falling into the former.
CHEAP HEAT OF THE WEEK:
TAG! YOU'RE NOT IT
TAG! YOU'RE NOT IT
It has been a disappointing time for fans of tag team wrestling in WWE as of late. Despite talk of focusing on their divisions, very little improvement has been seen as of late. Introduction of the women's belts aside, about the only thing that they have done differently was put the Raw belts on The Revival, who, despite their name, have not done much to bring the Raw scene back to life.
Champions losing in non-title matches, frankenteams, and a general air of unimportance have continued to plague the red brand for months. Admittedly, SmackDown Live has fared far better with their double division, but it is shame that their WrestleMania match was only added with mere days to go. An afterthought, perhaps?
Maybe a Raw tag match will be added to the the pre-show last-minute, but, as WWE literally told us at Survivor Series 2018, the pre-show does not count.
So there you have it, my two choices for the week. What do YOU think are the Cheap Pop and Cheap Heat this week in professional wrestling? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
