WWE Monday Night Raw - March 4, 2019 - Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA
WWE SmackDown - March 5, 2019 – Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre, PA
BATTLE OF THE BRANDS:
RAW vs. SMACKDOWN
FACTOR 1: MATCHES
Raw = Good six-man tag team match, for the most part. Everything else, eeehhh.
SmackDown = I enjoyed the Fatal 4-Way for the United States title and Ricochet and Black against The Bar, but you know what? That squash match with Mandy Rose and Naomi screws this all up, so here's my conundrum. I want SmackDown to win this category, but I'm going to have to dock them a point for that Naomi thing later in the bonus round.
WINNER: SmackDown
FACTOR 2: PROMOS
Raw = The Shield wins for this week, for sure, again. Also, Ronda Rousey turning heel like that, and Triple H's promo about Batista. There's no way Raw loses this.
SmackDown = I enjoyed R-Truth's whole John Cena thing, but I didn't like The Usos promo and I felt like the Flair and Lynch thing at the end was superfluous.
WINNER: Raw
FACTOR 3: STORYLINES
Raw = The whole thing with The Shield was good, as was Heavy Machinery making a name for themselves in the tag team division and Rousey turning heel and all.
SmackDown = To be honest, nothing was really furthered all that much. SmackDown felt very generic to me in this regard this week.
WINNER: Raw
FACTOR 4: SCHEDULING / PACING
Raw had an overall good pacing, but SmackDown had to rush the Mandy Rose match and they opted to go with a promo for the main event, which I feel was a mistake. The US Open Challenge was the highlight and it felt like after that first hour, the second hour wasn't necessary.
WINNER: Raw
EXTRA CREDIT BONUS ROUND!!!
No extra or negative points for Raw this week that wasn't already covered.
SmackDown gains a point for Samoa Joe winning the United States title, but loses a point for squashing Naomi like that.
POINT ADJUSTMENTS: Raw (+0 / -0) / SmackDown (+1 / -1)
THIS WEEK'S WINNER = Raw
That's my pick for the better show of the week, but how do YOU stand?
Which was better, Raw or SmackDown?
