This week, Robert DeFelice, Jordan Chaffiotte, and Ben Guest will be giving their thoughts on what may happen at the 2019 WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view!
It is time to talk about the devil's playground! It's a historic night with hellish overtones on the road to MetLife Stadium! Let's discuss...
Question 1: How do you feel about the RAW main event of WrestleMania, featuring Royal Rumble winner Seth Rollins vs Universal Champion Brock Lesnar, having no representation on this show?
GUEST: Royal Rumble Winner vs the guy who’s held the title for pretty much the entirety of the last two years. Not much build needed really. I think it’s good for Rollins to have time to recover and hopefully get his injuries under control, and hopefully, we can have a title run like he had after WrestleMania 31, maybe with less authority interference this time though.
DeFELICE: It's definitely odd. Typically, we know that when building towards the main event of WrestleMania, we see a lot of both participants. However, this might be a match that doesn't need a lot of face-to-face interaction and can be told through vignettes which I'm perfectly fine with. I do think it sucks that Seth Rollins is currently injured and that may be why he's not featured on the show.
CHAFFIOTTE: Seems to be business as usual for the beast. At this just adds credibility to Seth's position that Lesnar is holding the company hostage. Obviously, it's a shame Rollins can't compete but I'm sure he'll be there in some capacity. I think we're all starting to look around at each other and wonder if this really will be his last match given his struggles with injuries. Hopefully, that's not true as he could have any other ten years to go. If it had to happen to one match, this one can afford it. Rollins will be hot as ever when he steps onto the ramp at WrestleMania, and the story is cut and dry.
Question 2: Who do you think will be crowned the first ever WWE Women's Tag Team Champions?
GUEST: Sasha Banks and Bayley need something to do for a while until they’re ready to rejoin the main event picture and I think this keeps them occupied until around SummerSlam time. The WrestleMania match with Trish Stratus and Lita will be a great moment and I’m not sure who else WWE would want to laud as the first ever Women’s Tag Team Champions. It seems like a foregone conclusion, but I honestly wouldn’t mind Riott Squad, Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville or IIconics winning.
CHAFFIOTTE: I would say the most likely option is Boss and Hug Connection, but I would like to see the IIconics take it. They feel like the truest tag team out of them all, and having it on heels would be a great move. I'm not against Sasha and Bayley as a team but it's not nearly as compelling as when they're rivals who also happen to be best friends. From Sasha's betrayal at last year's Elimination Chamber to now, the story has been so clunky and butchered I'm having a hard time getting excited about them as champs. Meanwhile, the Iiconics are showing they're smarter than anyone gives them credit for, and that should benefit them in the Chamber.
DeFELCE: I think it should obviously go to Sasha Banks and Bayley, but I wouldn't be surprised if WWE really put it on a team like Carmella and Naomi because why not? However, I will go with my brain and say that Sasha Banks and Bayley walk away as the first-ever Tag Team Champions and they defend it at WrestleMania against either the Bella Twins or Trish Stratus and Lita.
Question 3: Who do you think will win the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber match and what do you think the SmackDown main event of WrestleMania will be?
DeFELICE: I think Daniel Bryan retains. The man just got his own custom championship and I see no reason to throw that away just yet. Also, I think that Rey Mysterio will eventually be the guy to challenge Daniel Bryan at Wrestlemania. I can see Daniel Bryan telling very enjoyable stories about Rey Mysterio only wearing the mask to sell it at merchandise stands as a form of consumerism.
GUEST: I’m not 100% sure WWE knows that they’re doing with this. Daniel Bryan might be eclipsing his popularity of 2014 right now and they would be stupid to throw that away… but Randy Orton mentioned AEW recently, and Vince McMahon does like putting Randy Orton over. I really think Bryan will go on to defend against someone like Rey Mysterio or maybe even Samoa Joe. With AJ Styles and Randy Orton having a high-profile non-title match to help get them to 5 hours and prevent everyone from having any form of sleep or social life. So… Bryan wins?
CHAFFIOTTE: It's got to be a Daniel Bryan victory here. He's too hot as a heel not to continue his run into WrestleMania. I'm not sure where WWE is going afterward. Part of me would love to see Joe get the match because as far as I'm concerned he punched his ticket for whatever he wants after that promo. Alternatively, I think a returning Kevin Owens could be a great opponent for Bryan. It looks like he's going to work an everyman angle and that could play off Bryan's pretentiousness really well. These two have.
Those are our thoughts on the issue, but where do you stand?
