WWE NXT TakeOver: WarGames III Results |
At the start of the pre-show, they announced that Mia Yim was attacked backstage. My prediction for who replaces her? Toni Storm. Dakota Kai is too obvious.
Kickoff Match: Isaiah "Swerve" Scott vs. Angel Garza
RESULT: Angel Garza wins by pinfall.
THOUGHTS: Rock solid match to whet everyone's appetites. Nothing too memorable, but I enjoyed it.
Backstage, Rhea Ripley tells Dakota Kai that she's replacing Mia Yim. Kai says she isn't prepared, but Ripley hypes her up and says she's been prepared and wants revenge on Shayna Baszler.
Women's WarGames Match: Rhea Ripley, Candice LeRae, Tegan Nox and Dakota Kai vs. Shayna Baszler, Bianca Belair, Io Shirai and Kay Lee Ray
- The first two in the ring are Io Shirai and Candice LeRae.
- Next in is Bianca Belair.
- Next in is Rhea Ripley, who brings in some trash cans, kendo sticks, chairs and even though the crowd booed that she didn't bring in tables, Ripley is coming off OVER AF.
- Kay Lee Ray is out, looking for more chairs. She teases bringing in a table and the fans cheer, but she puts it back. Nice!
- Dakota Kai is next and she attacks Tegan Nox in the cage! Heel turn! She even struck William Regal. Obviously, she's not going to be on Team Ripley.
- Shayna Baszler is next.
- Nox and Kai have been ruled out and the match officially has begun as 4-on-2.
RESULT: Team Ripley wins by pinfall (Ripley pins Baszler)
THOUGHTS: GODDAMN. That was a hell of a match!
Triple Threat No. 1 Contender's Match: Killian Dain vs. Pete Dunne vs. Damian Priest
RESULT: Pete Dunne wins by pinfall over Priest.
THOUGHTS: I was impressed by Priest and very disappointed in Dain. For someone his size, he failed to be the "big man" in the match, which was strange to see. Dunne has had much better matches with greater ease, too. This was fine, but it did feel underwhelming as a follow-up to the WarGames match.
Finn Balor vs. Matt Riddle
RESULT: Finn Balor wins by pinfall with the 1916 DDT.
THOUGHTS: Very underwhelming. I wasn't a big fan of this at all.
Men's WarGames Match: The Undisputed ERA vs. Tommaso Ciampa, Dominik Dijakovic, Keith Lee and TBA
- They're waiting on the mystery partner even as the match begins.
- Starting things off are Tommaso Ciampa and Roderick Strong.
- Kyle O'Reilly is next.
- Dominik Dijakovic comes in.
- Next is Bobby Fish.
- Keith Lee enters the fray.
- Adam Cole rounds out Team Undisputed ERA.
- The final member of Team Ciampa is Kevin Owens.
RESULT: Team Ciampa wins by pinfall (Ciampa pins Cole)
THOUGHTS: Not as good as the other match. I'm actually disappointed in the Owens reveal, too, as much as I have him in my top 5 favorite superstars in all of WWE right now.
