Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live present WWE Money in the Bank 2019 Results |
Kickoff time. We can already see that the women's ladder match will happen before the men's (since it's hanging). Our panel is Jonathan Coachman, Charly Caruso, Sam Roberts and David Otunga. Nothing all that interesting going on.
SmackDown Tag Team Champions Daniel Bryan and Rowan vs. The Usos
RESULTS: The Usos win by pinfall
THOUGHTS: Good match, particularly for the kickoff and it being non-title.
Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match: Bayley vs. Carmella vs. Dana Brooke vs. Ember Moon vs. Mandy Rose vs. Naomi vs. Natalya vs. Nikki Cross
RESULTS: Bayley wins the briefcase.
THOUGHTS: Awesome match! Great choice for a winner. They totally got me with the fakeout Carmella injury and I liked the ending, too.
Sami Zayn interrupts Triple H's phone call to talk about how Braun Strowman will interfere. Triple H says Strowman has been banned from the building.
United States Championship Match: Samoa Joe (c) vs. Rey Mysterio
RESULTS: Rey Mysterio wins the title by pinfall!
THOUGHTS: This was so fast and the ending was so abrupt and out of nowhere that I don't even know what to really think about it. Joe's shoulder is WAY off the mat. Was this even a flub?
After the match, Joe attacks Mysterio.
Steel Cage Match: The Miz vs. Shane McMahon
RESULTS: Shane McMahon wins by escape
THOUGHTS: This was fun, but it was also weird. We have another "dumb referee moment" happening, and Shane wins by slipping through his shirt?
Tomorrow night on Raw, Mick Foley will announce "WWE's newest title" - whaaat?
Backstage, it seems Braun Strowman has gotten to Sami Zayn, as he's hanging upside down on a fence.
Cruiserweight Championship Match: Tony Nese (c) vs. Ariya Daivari
RESULTS: Tony Nese retains the title by pinfall
THOUGHTS: Totally adequate match that nobody in the crowd cared about in the slightest.
Backstage, Triple H talks to Braun Strowman, saying he isn't putting him in the ladder match after what he did to Sami Zayn. Strowman doesn't know what he's talking about. HHH asks him to leave.
Raw Women's Championship Match: Becky Lynch (c) vs. Lacey Evans
RESULTS: Becky Lynch retains the title by submission
THOUGHTS: Yet another awkward referee spot at the end here with Lynch's shoulders CLEARLY being down and the referee not counting at all. What is going on?? Are these legitimate errors, or did WWE purposely book these flubs? If the former, why? If the latter, why?!
SmackDown Women's Championship Match: Becky Lynch (c) vs. Charlotte Flair
RESULTS: Charlotte Flair wins the title by pinfall after some help from Lacey Evans.
THOUGHTS: WHIFFED that kick. This wasn't pulled off as well as they wanted it to be. That seems to be a theme tonight in some regards.
Flair and Evans beat down Lynch. Bayley comes out! Flair gets Bayley out of her hair, but Bayley turns things around. She's cashing in and the match is official.
SmackDown Women's Championship Match: Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Bayley
RESULTS: Bayley wins the title by pinfall after an elbow drop
THOUGHTS: Well now I have to change my "current and future champions" list for the second time in five minutes, as I was right that Bayley would cash in.
Backstage, Elias nails Roman Reigns with a guitar.
Elias vs. Roman Reigns
RESULTS: Roman Reigns wins by pinfall
THOUGHTS: This was a guitar shot in the back, a song from Elias, a Superman Punch from Reigns, a spear, and a pinfall. This was a Raw segment.
Universal Championship Match: Seth Rollins (c) vs. AJ Styles
RESULTS: Seth Rollins retains the title by pinfall
THOUGHTS: Very good match, as expected. It's not going to be my Match of the Year candidate or anything, but it was rock solid, for sure.
After the match, Styles came back to offer a handshake that Rollins eventually reciprocated.
Charly Caruso interviews Kofi Kingston.
Lucha House Party came out to struggle with a promo until Lars Sullivan wrecked all three of them. Stupid.
WWE Championship Match: Kofi Kingston (c) vs. Kevin Owens
RESULTS: Kofi Kingston retains the title by pinfall
THOUGHTS: Good match with a lot of energy behind it. I'm surprised Xavier Woods and even Big E weren't involved in any way and this was just a clean victory for Kingston, but that doesn't mean I'm opposed to that. Rather, a clean, straight-up victory helps cement him as a legitimate world champion.
Men's Money in the Bank Ladder Match: Ali vs. Andrade vs. Baron Corbin vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Finn Balor vs. Randy Orton vs. Ricochet vs. Sami Zayn
RESULTS: Brock Lesnar wins the briefcase.
THOUGHTS: This was an amazing match until the end.
