CHEAP POP OF THE WEEK:
ASUKA AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE
ASUKA AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE
It was somewhat unsurprising to learn that it would be Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch facing off again at TLC, but the same cannot be said about the addition of throwing Asuka into the fray.
She went from being a dominating undefeated machine into barely a blip above obscurity. They did not even bother to use her first loss for a story or any character development!
Her team with Naomi has at least been something, but comes at a time where is still no female tag championship insight. Ultimately, there is no goal to strive for.
However, fans did not give up their faith in her, and made it loud and clear that she was still one of their chosen favorites when Becky was picking her replacement to fight Ronda Rousey. The crowd reaction for Asuka cannot have gone unnoticed, and might have played into her now being placed in the triple threat match.
While I have my doubts that WWE have any plans to end the roll, Becky Lynch has been on, the very fact that Asuka is back the title picture is miles better than where we were a few months ago. Plus, a match will three of the very best women in WWE? You cannot complain about that!
CHEAP HEAT OF THE WEEK:
PISSING ME OFF
It was just last week that I wrote about how I could not take AOP seriously as tag champions, but that this was easily fixable by not having them lose for a good long while.
Thankfully, WWE saw fit to address that part of the problem by having them successfully defend the titles again Chad Gable and Bobby Roode, but we now find ourselves in a situation that can only be described as one step forward two steps back.
Namely, that it was Roode and Gabel who have the clean win over AOP, but AOP only got their victory by means of shenanigans.
Peeing on Roode's robe to cause a distraction? Really?
Who was this meant to amuse? Children? Or Vince McMahon? Also, I would love to know how they arrived on the decision that Drake Maverick's new gimmick would be peeing on things.
I get that this a carryover from the Survivor Series incident, but that moment was spectacularly frowned upon as a weird and unnecessary part of what should have been a real barn burner of a match. Why take the worst aspect of it and expand it? Furthermore, it just does not fit with AOP's personality at all.
As if Raw did not have enough opportune moments for piss breaks as it is.
So there you have it, my two choices for the week. What do YOU think are the Cheap Pop and Cheap Heat this week in professional wrestling? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
