CHEAP POP OF THE WEEK:
DEAN DESTROYS DOLPH & DREW
DEAN DESTROYS DOLPH & DREW
After eight months out of action, Dean Ambrose made his return on Raw to a massive crowd pop. Partly because absence makes the heart makes the heart grow fonder, but also in recognition for his radically bulked up appearance and striking hair style change. Maybe a case of look like Triple H in the hope of getting booked like Triple H?
Ambrose arrived to help Seth Rollins in his feud with Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre, and the Shield brethren quickly made short work of the pair. In addition, we also got confirmation that Dean would be in Seth's corner for his upcoming Intercontinental title match at SummerSlam.
Dean arriving to help out Seth was one of those moments that we saw coming a while back, but we wanted it to happen all the same. Thankfully, WWE agreed and gave us what we wanted. Predictably can be effective when it is exactly what our heart desires.
The Drew/Seth/Dolph triangle has produced some excellent moments and matches thus far, and adding Ambrose into the mix can surely only serve to up the pace and excitement further. Beyond making their SummerSlam match a bit different to their previous encounter, we cannot be sure that Dean won't turn on Seth. His appearance is certainly more in the realm of a heel now, and many feel that Dean still owes Seth a betrayal for his turn against The Shield.
A mystery element to the match now sorely missing from the main event…..
CHEAP HEAT OF THE WEEK:
IMPATIENT IDEOLOGY
WWE had done the near impossible by injecting new interest in the very much exhausted Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar feud, but will it have been for nought now that they have already played their mystery card?
The past fortnight saw WWE masterfully engineer a breakdown in the relationship between Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar, the result of which caused us to wonder how it might play into the Universal title picture at SummerSlam. Could Brock Lesnar's callous treatment of Paul cause him to cost Brock the match? Will he side with Roman Reigns? Or maybe it will be revealed to all have been a ruse?
Well, highly likely none of the above, as WWE already answered this on Raw with Paul Heyman spraying Reigns with pepper spray and leaving him vulnerable to an attack from Brock.
That was it? Sure, it was a cool little moment, but it rendered everything that came before as pointless. Did Brock Lesnar and Heyman really go through all that just to set up a pepper spray attack and a single F5?
Leaving us guessing about Heyman's allegiance was a key component in making this one feel different. Could they not have waited six more days before pulling the trigger?
Of course, Heyman might still screw someone on the night, but it will be nowhere near as effective now that they have done this. I was so looking forward to this match because of that uncertainty, but what we are left with is now just yet another Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar match.
Still, at least it should be for the last time…
