I am loving the push that Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel have been getting as of late. While I initially thought that all signs pointed to them joining Woken Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt, I think that this B Team gimmick is a much better place for them right now.
It is hard to not get behind their hilariously over the top victory celebrations, their unbridled enthusiasm, and the feel-good factor you get from seeing the success of men who have previously been positioned as perpetual jobbers or fall-guys.
Their whole story is relatable to anyone who has continually tried and persevered in any field of life, and I want to see them succeed so badly as a result of it.
The New Nexus, Rybaxel, Bolieve, MetaPowers, Vote Bo, The Social Outcasts, Heyman Guy, and The Miztourage. The pair of them have always been part of things that look set to go somewhere, but, with the exception of The Miztourage, have nearly always left them in a position no better than when they started.
Can The B-Team be the one that bucks the trend and puts them in a position more fitting of their talents? I would like to Bolieve so.
CHEAP HEAT OF THE WEEK:
FAMILY PROBLEMS
WWE never learns do they? Fake family members and fake friends of wrestlers hardly ever work out well. There are always going to be the exception to the rules, such as Dr. Shelby and Buella Slater, but Bobby Lashley's sisters are not ones that we can count in that category.
Firstly, did they really sign Bobby Lashley back with this in mind for him? This could not be further removed from the initial rumblings that he would be a potential opponent for Brock Lesnar.
What did this do for the character of Lashley? Other than that he has sisters, allegedly, we still know nothing about him beyond the fact that he dresses like an impromptu basketball game may break out at any minute. WWE cannot take for granted that everyone watching remembers him from ten years ago.
Having men dress as the sisters probably raised big guffaws for Vince McMahon, but I am not convinced anyone else would have been joining in. In addition, while I can write it off as harmless nonsense, it would not surprise me if this was picked up as some sort of transphobic behavior by some non-wrestling watching party. Not exactly something that would go hand in hand with WWE's Be A Star campaign.
I am not saying that the crowd was entirely listless to the piece, but when a ball shot with a broom barely raises an eyebrow, you might just have a problem.
So there you have it, my two choices for the week. What do YOU think are the Cheap Pop and Cheap Heat this week in professional wrestling? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
