BAYLEY VS. BANKS
It is undeniable that WWE made some bad booking decisions with Bayley last year. She won the women’s championship far too soon for an underdog, and then immediately was made to look like a fool for being called out on her dubious win by Stephanie McMahon. Worse still was the fact that she then chose to disregard her integrity by refusing to vacate it!
Things went from bad to worse when got decimated in a Kendo stick on a pole match against Alexa Bliss with barely any offense. She later gave the excuse that she did not want to hurt people. A very odd statement for any wrestler to make, and not so conductive for getting fans to believe in you.
However, slowly, but surely, she seems to be finding herself back in favor with the audience and WWE bosses. Her match with Sasha Banks this past week on Monday Night Raw was the best one of the night, and possibly my favorite Bayley match of all time.
The moves were crisp, the story behind it was good, and the intensity was dialed up high. I loved every second of it.
What is also intriguing is the rumblings that Bayley may very well be turning full-blown heel. Sasha is the obvious fit for such a role, but could turning Bayley be the better option? I cannot even begin to imagine how a heel Bayley might act, but I would be very intrigued to see. Would she just tweak a tiny aspect of her character a la Sami Zayn? Or would she be like a whole new person?
Though, with matches like this, I am not sure I mind who turns on who. This was quality through and through.
More please.
CHEAP HEAT OF THE WEEK:
TOP TEN LIST
What exactly is the point of the SmackDown Live top ten ranking system? I can understand WWE feeling that it adds an extra element of legitimacy to the product, but it belittles the point if the ranking is seemingly unaffected by wins or losses.
Having an official ranking system has been talked about by fans for years, but not in the fashion WWE has implicated. Has Naomi won a ton of matches as of late? More so than the other women? Apparently, as the first list ranked her in 4th place.
Surely, those who win consecutive matches should be near the top? And those who reach the top slots are number one contenders for a title? But then that theory falls flat when you realize that the ranking is not even division specific. So, why bother?
Could it be that the system is merely there to tell us who is flavor of the week for the office, and should be cheered so? Highly likely.
Also, they left out Rusev on Rusev day!
Sacrilege.
