Review of UFC 217 pay-per-view Bisping vs St-Pierre

MAIN CARD

MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: Michael Bisping (c) vs Georges St-Pierre

GSP really dominated Bisping, he hasn't missed a step. Great performance, I really hope we get a rematch soon!

RESULT: Georges St-Pierre, 3rd round Technical Submission.

BANTAMWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: Cody Garbrandt (c) vs TJ Dillashaw (#2)

Great finish from Dillashaw and a first loss for Garbrandt, this could be an amazing trilogy in the making if Garbrandt can win an inevitable rematch!

RESULT: TJ Dillashaw, 2nd round KO.

STRAWWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: Joanna jedrzejczyk (c) vs Rose Namajunas (#4)

WOW! Did not see that coming. Great knockout from Namjunas, but I don't think we've seen the last of Joanna just yet.

RESULT: Rose Namajunas, 1st round TKO.

WELTERWEIGHT: Stephen Thompson (#2) vs Jorge Masvidal (#4)

Two tight opening rounds just about go to Thompson, before he dominated the third. One judge gave the third as a 10-8, I can see why, but I think that was a bit unfair.

RESULT: Stephen Thompson, unanimous decision.

MIDDLEWEIGHT: Johny Hendricks vs Paulo Costa

After a tight first round, Costa dominated the 2nd getting the TKO early in the round.

RESULT: Paulo Costa, 2nd round TKO.

PRELIMINARY CARD

LIGHTWEIGHT: James Vick vs Joseph Duffy

Duffy probably scraped a close first round, but Vick gets the KO with 4 seconds to spare in the 2nd.

RESULT: James Vick, 2nd round TKO.

HEAVYWEIGHT: Walt Harris vs Mark Godbeer

Harris wins the first round but gets disqualified after landing a head kick after the referee called a stoppage. Silly mistake.

RESULT: Mark Godbeer, DQ.

LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT: Ovince Saint Preux (#6) vs Corey Anderson (#7)

I would have to say Anderson was easily winning the fight until OSP landed that head kick in the 3rd round, another example of how one strike can end a fight, incredible.

RESULT: Ovince Saint Preux, 3rd round KO.

WELTERWEIGHT: Randy Brown vs Mickey Gall

Brown takes the 1st and 3rd round, Gall takes the 2nd. Not much more to say. It's a shame for Gall, but one loss won't damage his career and it was a good showing for the first time he's gone the distance. Good fight from Brown.

RESULT: Randy Brown, unanimous decision.

EARLY PRELIMINARY CARD

HEAVYWEIGHT: Aleksei Oleinik (#9) vs Curtis Blaydes (#12)

Blaydes controlled both rounds before the fight was stopped. Originally, the referee thought Blaydes had delivered an illegal blow, but the replay showed that not to be the case.

RESULT: Curtis Blaydes, 2nd round TKO (doctor stoppage)

BANTAMWEIGHT: Aeimann Zahabi vs Ricardo Ramos

Zahabi started the fight stronger and was competitive in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, but ultimately, it only takes one strike to end any fight.

RESULT: Ricardo Ramos, 3rd round KO.
