Smark Out Moment

Do you have a question that you want to ask the minds over at Smark Out Moment? Our version of the WWE Inbox is the Smark Out Moment Mailbag. Once a month, we set aside some time to answer any of the questions on your mind, whether they be wrestling related, trivia to try to stump us, or just general questions to get to know Tony Mango and the other members of the team better.

Here are your submissions for this month:


Question: "What fictional characters and celebrities have you had the hots for? One of each."

Answer: Celebrities are just way too much to even mention. Fictional characters tie somewhat into that, but I'd suggest checking out the annual TV crushes post on Fanboys Anonymous that I put up every year. I'll be drafting up another one in the next couple of weeks for the fall 2017 television list.

Question: "If you opened a wrestling federation, what would it be called? Would you run it with a figurehead like 80's Vince, or as a character, like Mr. McMahon years? If you had to hire a figurehead to be the face commissioner of your company, who would you pick?"

Answer: Apex Pro Wrestling. I'd definitely do the transition of the babyface Vince to the bastard boss Vince character for myself. My face commissioner, if we're picking from the current crop of people to pick from, would probably be someone like Matt Striker.

Question: "If you were a wrestler, and you could pick any wrestler from the history of the sport (within reason) who would be your manager/valet/bodyguard?"

Answer: I think I could do real well with a sycophant like Bobby Heenan as a manager. If we're going valet, I have to pick Sunny, just for the chances of getting some extra behind the scenes character study time.


Question: "Do you think we will ever see the real Seymour Skinner again? Remember Principle Skinner's real name is Armin Tamzarian. What do you think of that whole thing/episode?"

Answer: I haven't actually watched the past few seasons of The Simpsons, so I'm not sure what they're doing right now, but I don't think we'll ever see a reference to that character again. They seem to be testy when it comes to that one since it was so controversial. I don't hate it as much as some people, but I don't think it was the right decision to make, similar to when they killed off certain characters and such.

Question: "Did Gail Kim piss off WWE because Enzo is using her finisher Eat Deaft? Do you like the Eddie Guerero cheat to win style from Enzo?"

Answer: I think Enzo using it was just a matter of him thinking the move was cool and needing a finisher. As far as the cheating goes, I'm not too fond of it, actually. If he did it when he was more popular, I think it could have worked better.

Question: "Do you think Enzo was sent to 205 Live to kill the Cruiserweights like Hornswoggle did before? Do you think WWE should just get rid of The Cruiserweight division?"

Answer: No, I think they sent him there because that was the best spot for him and for the division itself. The cruiserweights are a niche audience even in wrestling, so it'll never be the most popular thing.

Question: "Speaking of Enzo I know Roman kicked him off the bus, did Roman kick him out of the locker room? In theory Roman has to let him back in and I don't feel like this will be Miz changing outside after Chris's death and Undertaker saying you can come back in"

Answer: This is totally a tough call to make without knowing more information. My guess is someone like Cena or Reigns who is high enough on the totem pole will make the decision somewhere down the line, if they haven't already done that.

Question: "This is a question to everyone, but I need to single out Tony. Since The Bar teaming with Cesaro has Sheamus become more interesting? Sheamus or Del Rio who do you hate more now?"

Answer: Absolutely Alberto Del Rio is higher up on my shit list than Sheamus, 100%. There are a few redeeming factors with Sheamus, but I see none with Del Rio.

Question: "Do you think Stephanie McMahon's return was under whelming to say the least?"

Answer: Not so much underwhelming, but kind of unwarranted. She shouldn't have been backstage on SmackDown necessarily and unless something comes out of it, her presence wasn't needed.

Question: "Did you hear Eddie's son Dominick (Mysterio) has made his wrestling debut?"

Answer: Hopefully he's got more moves in his arsenal than a 6-1-9 and a splash.

Question: "Do you think Lucha Underground will not be renewed because of the Sexy Star issue at Triple A?"

Answer: I don't think that will be the killing blow, but it certainly doesn't help. My guess is Lucha Underground failed to get a big enough audience to justify its return to begin with.

Question: "What did you think of Mia Yim from Mae Young classic? She is one of my favorite woman wrestlers from past few years and holds my favorite match of the year with Rosemary Monster Ball"

Answer: Mia Yim was certainly impressive enough that I think WWE definitely needs to consider offering her a contract.

Question: "How stupid of a name is Johny Impact for John Morrison? What is your favorite Morrison name? My is Johny Mundo"

Answer: Johnny Nitro fit him really well when he was part of MNM, so I'd probably have to go with that one. John Morrison was always bland to me, and Johnny Mundo sounds weird since I'm used to Morrison. Johnny Impact is just awful.

Question: "Since people seem to leave GFW, TNA whatever the name if it still in business ever week or so who do you want to leave for WWE? My answer is James Storm and Abyss/Rosemary, to reform Decay with Crazy Steve and to see a Storm Roode feud I'm over a Beer Money reunion for now"

Answer: I'm not too familiar with some people like Braxton Sutter or Jake Crist or whoever, so out of the people I do know about, I'd say Ethan Carter III, James Storm, and Allie.

Question: "At Raw I was talking to the guy behind me about Roode (Who had not made his debut yet). I said my he's part of my favorite tag team, he said Dirty Heels, you know it is Beer Money. So who do you think is Roode's best team?"

Answer: Beer Money for sure.

Question: "Do you think Bobby Roode is doing good on the main roster? Darn I say he's Gloriless. Do you think he is the one to beat Jinder and that's why he's a face?"

Answer: They haven't given him much of anything to do, so I think he's been a non-entity so far. I'm not sure why he's a babyface, but I feel like that's a mistake.

Question: "Do you think The Hardys, Elias, James Elsworth, Wrestler Lana, Singh Brothers, Shelton Benjamin and Drew McIntyre will be DLC in WWE 2K18? I wouldn't mind Hardy, Shelton and Drew as older versions of self if they don't have models, not a make or break for me though"

Answer: I can definitely picture The Hardy Boyz, Elias, James Ellsworth and Lana being included, but I don't think the rest will be.

Question: "Do you think that today the character of The Undertaker played by Mark Callaway or not would get over today?"

Answer: Honestly, no. I think The Undertaker came at a time where people were more open to the idea behind it and he eventually proved himself to be so entertaining that everyone just went with it for the rest of his career.

Question: "Do you think Undertaker is retired? I heard rumor of Taker Vs Roman Vs Brock please no"

Answer: I think Taker's done, sadly.

Question: "Who in the concussion lawsuit do you think should be in the Hall of Fame? Should Ted Turner be in the Hall of Fame?"

Answer: Ted Turner shouldn't. The ones who I think should at some point are King Kong Bundy, Demolition, One Man Gang and maybe Earl Hebner.

Question: "I'm scoring ever WWE PPV so be warned this question probably show up again. The Elimination Survivor Series Match how is that scored if you are eliminated and your team wins do you get a w or l? I'm scoring by WWE standards if I had the call you lose you lose"

Answer: If your team wins, they count it as a win.

Question: "WWE now has 3 free agents Uncle Shūshu John Cena ok movies, Renee Young should just be on Raw and Cory Grave pick a side. What do you think of that and the brand split? For the big 4 do you think Cory calls both shows? I think I'm finally 100% understand and agree with what Tony has been saying all this time"

Answer: This cross-pollination so quickly after the institution of the brand split illustrates exactly the problem with it, being that they can't stick to it and make it seem like a legitimate thing. All it ends up being is a division of the talent that forces them to drag things out longer and prevents them from doing certain feuds that would be better. Effectively, they'd rather have two shows that are C- material than one show that is A-.

Question: "People are saying the world is upside with Trump as president. I heard this in class and my reaction was anything can happen in WWE Jinder is world champion. What do you think happened to the world?"

Answer: I think it just boils down to "people suck" and tension builds until we lash out, then we start to heal, then we lash out again, start to heal, etc.


Question: "What's your opinion on this whole racist Jinder Mahal promo?"

Answer: If WWE feels the need to try to offend Asian people with promos just to get some heat on Jinder Mahal, they should just admit that he's a failure on the mic and as a character and put the title on someone else.

Question: "At the NXT Tapings, The Undisputed Era teased Roderick Strong joining them. Would you like that to happen?"

Answer: Sure. Strong is kind of bland, but so are the other three guys.

Question: Do you think Taynara Conti was the right chose for the faction?"

Answer: I'd have gone with Sarah Logan maybe, but sure, Taynara Conti could work okay.

Question: "Do you seriously believe we'll get the Four Horsewoman vs. Four Horsewoman match?"

Answer: Oh definitely, unless contract disputes get in the way.

Question: Do you think Ronda Rousey will fully sign with WWE?"

Answer: I don't think she'll ever be a true member of the roster, no.

Question: "Final thoughts on Big Brother 19? Your thoughts on the celebrity season? Thoughts on how Paul got screwed? And thoughts on a possible all star season for season 20?"

Answer: Paul got fucked over by a bitter jury, which is ridiculous. I'm hoping the celebrity season has some actual decent celebrities on it that I don't find obnoxious, but I don't have much faith in it. Overall, I'd be MUCH more interested in another All Stars season than a celebrity one, that's for sure.

Question: "Who do you see Kurt Angle facing at Mania 34 or whenever?"

Answer: Triple H or Seth Rollins, if he even does wrestle.

Question: "Poka Dots or Stripes?"

Answer: Stripes.

Question: "Do you think Cody will fight at WWE Starcade, as Hayes offered him to team up with Goldust?"

Answer: Cody definitely won't, and I don't think Goldust will, either.

Question: "Are you fond of WWE trying to have The New Day break the tag team title reign record?"

Answer: I'm totally on board with this. The New Day are amazing.

Question: "When will Carmella cash in?"

Answer: I could see her trying to cash in on Charlotte and losing sometime around Clash of Champions.

Question: "What brand will Paige go to?"

Answer: SmackDown, I hope.

Question: "What's your favorite color?"

Answer: Black, then silver/gray, then white. If those don't count, blue is my next favorite, then gold and tan tied.

Question: "Would you be down with Strowman vs. Wyatt at WrestleMania?"

Answer: Absolutely not. Strowman needs something much better than that.

Question: "Will WWE treat Jason Jordan as another Roman Reigns guy?"

Answer: I don't think so. I doubt they have as much invested in him to put that much effort fooling themselves about.

Question: "Should WWE consider putting NXT on live TV?"

Answer: If they want to get more people to tune in, yeah, but I don't think it will make that much of a difference overall since it would still be on the network.

Question: "Is there going to be a Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic?"

Answer: I'm assuming they'll start building to that after Houston and have it cap off in Philadelphia.

Question: "I know it's early, but who would you have be inducted in the Hall of Fame?"

Answer: This is a tough one. I'll have to get back to you, but I do know that it wouldn't be a bad idea to have The Rock inducted as the headliner this year.

Question: "Frozen Yogurt or Ice Cream?"

Answer: Ice cream, 100%. Soft serve, in particular.

Question: "What do you think about this Velveteen Dream and Aleister Black matchup?"

Answer: It's weird and it's making people talk, so I like it.

Question: "Do you play the WWE 2K Game?"

Answer: Nope. I think the grand total of time I've spent playing all WWE games over the past 10 years might be 30 minutes or so.

Question: "Are you more of a veggie or fruit person?"

Answer: Fruit over vegetables...I think...but it depends. I'm more likely to eat vegetables on a regular basis, but I'm more likely to enjoy fruit when I'm in the mood for it than any vegetable I'll be eating.

Question: "Will we get that bragging rights survivor series matchups again?"

Answer: I sure as hell hope so. With the brand split, that's one of the few benefits is that it helps Survivor Series feel like it matters instead of just random teams.
