CHEAP POP OF THE WEEK:
BROTHERS ONCE MORE
Shield fans rejoiced this week when Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins reunited on Monday Night Raw. Despite being bitter enemies for the past three years, the scrapping pair were finally able to put their differences aside to fend off an attack from Cesaro and Sheamus and earn themselves a title shot in the process.
This was a well told story that played on the invested emotions of fans desperate to see a reunion of sorts. While we did have Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns teaming for a while in 2015, there was never any emotional scars to heal there. Any hopes of a full on Shield reunion required the involvement of the turncoat, Seth Rollins.
While I cannot claim to have been one who worshiped the ground they walked on, I have no shame admitting that I got a little shiver down my spine when they did their classic Shield fist bump.
With the Universal Championship picture looking pretty full right now, this is a great direction for the both of them, and could very well lead to Dean Ambrose becoming a new Grand Slam holder. Not bad for someone who was once called lazy by Stone Cold Steve Austin.
Plus, let us not forget, this looks like it spells the end of the Dean Ambrose/Miz feud……for now.
CHEAP HEAT OF THE WEEK:
SUMMER COMES EARLY
SUMMER COMES EARLY
I did not think that I could have cared less about Bray Wyatt vs. Finn Balor at SummerSlam. A combination of having nothing at stake, no clear reason over what the rivalry was based on, and weeks of meaningless Wyatt preacher promos have destroyed any interest I had in this feud.
Yet, somehow, WWE managed to make me care even less by having them fight on Monday Night Raw just six days from their scheduled clash! With Bray Wyatt getting the victory, the presumption is almost a dead cert that Finn Balor will get the win on Sunday. Aimless 50-50 booking at its finest. WWE has confirmed that Balor will be utilizing his demon persona at SummerSlam, but it does not take away the fact that this match will have happened twice in one week.
Sadly, the same could be said for SmackDown Live, which also saw The New Day vs. The Usos mere days before their title match at SummerSlam. Admittedly, this is a very good feud, and they will no doubt use a different combination for The New Day, but it is undeniable that these television matches have taken a little shine off of what will go down at SummerSlam.
