CHEAP POP OF THE WEEK:
LAUGHING ALL THE WAY TO THE BANK
I am glad that Carmella won back her Money in the Bank contract. I understand the controversy, but I am glad that the way things have gone down the way they have. Firstly, Carmella has cut some of her best promos in the past two weeks as a result, and her speech about not caring about girl power was an excellent heat inducing bombshell too. These events have also allowed for some very captivating fun promos between Daniel Bryan and James Ellsworth.
Secondly, a face is simply not as much fun as a MITB winner. Every once in a while, it is good to have one should the story be right, but the very nature of the contract is better suited to a heel. With Naomi as champion, someone like Becky Lynch cashing in would just not have worked. The only way to work around that would have been to have Naomi drop the title to Lana, and I am sure that this not something she, or the audience, would be ready for.
As part of a trio with Enzo and Cass, I was never that into Carmella, but on her own (OK, with Ellsworth) I am finding her to be absolutely f-a-b-u-l-o-u-s.
CHEAP HEAT OF THE WEEK:
GOLDEN MOULDY
GOLDEN MOULDY
The R-Truth and Goldust promos have been very entertaining thus far. The revisiting of the classic Goldust persona was long overdue, and R-Truth really stepped up his game in them too, reminding us that he can do credible tough guy act rather well indeed.
However, their clash on Monday Night Raw sadly failed to live up to the build. It was billed as being Goldust's brand new motion picture, but all it involved was a gold cameraman and a one minute beat down. Not exactly Oscar worthy stuff. The fact that the match did not even get started indicates that there will be a further confrontation, but most of us can see the writing on the wall that this will be little more than a pre-show match at Great Balls of Fire. Why all the time invested if that is going to be the pay off?
Of course, this still could get on the main card with an interesting stipulation (a Hollywood parking lot brawl would seem fitting) but, despite the weeks of a good build up, all signs point to WWE looking at this as little more than the cartoon or newsreel before the real attraction begins.
So there you have it, my two choices for the week. What do YOU think are the Cheap Pop and Cheap Heat this week in professional wrestling? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
