It would be sensible to think that all the men involved in Fatal 5-Way match will probably get a fair crack at Brock Lesnar's Universal Championship between now and WrestleMania 34, but I am very happy that it was Samoa Joe who got the victory at Extreme Rules last Sunday. This encounter has fresh, frantic, and fierce written all over it.
However, it is not just the victory that has piqued my interest this week, but also the build to the brawl. Joe always had a touch of a silent hitman to his character, and never has this been better accented than what he did to Paul Heyman on Monday Night Raw.
There is something far more sinister about calmly and quietly informing someone about how you will hurt them and then doing it. Furthermore, this action alone made me have no reason to doubt Paul Heyman saying Joe is not scared of Brock Lesnar. Plus, it it years since a wrestler last laid their hands on Heyman. Him agreeing to it this really shows that there is a strong belief in Joe backstage.
Though I doubt Lesnar will be dethroned in his first title defense, it does not mean that we cannot enjoy Joe's well deserved moment at the top of the card whilst he is there.
CHEAP HEAT OF THE WEEK:
LEST WE FORGET
LEST WE FORGET
We all remember the Alexa Bliss/Bayley 'This is Your Life' segment on Raw, and we all collectively agreed to pretend it never happened. It was a mishmash oddball segment which did nothing for either women whatsoever.
WWE were seemingly in agreement too. Why else would they have edited the YouTube clip and deleted all tweets making any reference to it?
Yet, two weeks in a row now, WWE has had it mentioned. Firstly, with Bayley telling Alexa Bliss that she was no Rock or Mankind (a reference to the good TIYL) and now again, with Kurt Angle reminding Alexa Bliss about her failure with the segment on this week's Raw. Why? It is good that they can laugh at themselves, but is this the best time to do it? Bayley is on a downslide as it is, so why oh why would you keep hammering home that this was a thing that happened? A terrible awful thing.
So there you have it, my two choices for the week. What do YOU think are the Cheap Pop and Cheap Heat this week in professional wrestling? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
