I am all for the quasi-forced upon friendship between Nia Jax and Alexa Bliss. Their segment on her coronation segment was a real highlight of Raw last week, and the subsequent backstage skit proved both fun to watch and a good plot device to set up an inevitable clash somewhere down the line. Whatever Alexa Bliss touches turns to gold, and I have no reason to doubt that this time will be any different. The pair are also reportedly very good friends in real life, so this will no doubt help accent the comedic chemistry further.
Alexa is such a good character, and seeing her lie and squirm under the steely glaze of Nia has got me looking forward to further interactions between the pair. I know it will be a short-lived friendship, and I know exactly how it will end, but if Team Kevin and Chris taught us anything, it is that we should treasure each and every moment of a good WWE screen friendship while we can.
CHEAP HEAT OF THE WEEK:
UNLUCKY LUKE
Just two months ago, Luke Harper was in a place on the card where many felt that he might just get into the WWE Championship picture at WrestleMania. Of course, shenanigans happened, and he was soon booted out of contender ship scene. However, it still gave many fans hope that WWE may place him there again one day.
That day is not today, nor is it tomorrow, nor is it looking like it is coming any time soon.
Losing to the less popular ex-Wyatt Family member on SmackDown Live is hardly the end of the world, but it does seem a pointless blow off to what could have been a decent feud with a long storied history to draw from. It makes me sad to think that the final payoff to this long-lived faction was that WrestleMania match with Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt, and nothing for Harper or Rowan to do. What did dismantling them achieve?
Luke seems a painfully obvious opponent to contend for Randy Orton's WWE championship, and should Jinder Mahal not get the job done at Backlash, they are really missing a trick if he is not next in line.
So there you have it, my two choices for the week. What do YOU think are the Cheap Pop and Cheap Heat this week in professional wrestling? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
